T-Mobile to release more G phones this year

Pete
Stop

exactly.

That thing was confirmed as a chinese rip off by a company called sciphone, and it's even running a rip off of android cos they couldn't be bothered to licence it...

If you really wanna know what it looks like, check Engadget for the pics of the real one, which is the white one that one user described as looking 'like a bar of soap'. All I can say is that the general consensus here in the office is that it looks a lot better than the G1, and most of the guys I have shown it to (i could tell you how i got it, but then i'd have to kill you!) like it better than the G1. But then it is all down to personal preference, cos it's basically a slimmed down G1 with an on screen keyboard.

I can see a lot more people buying this one than the G1 though...

So i was right about the flaming....!

someone bit as i knew they would! Throw a bone and the fanboys always bite!

As for the design of this thing, yeah it's fugly. Still if it does what i want and need it to, then it's a contender. As far as I am concerned, i care not one iota what the thing looks like, as long as it gets the job done.

For what i want, the iPhone doesn't cut it. WIndows Mobile does. Palm Used to, and I just don't like the way S60 works. So for me, Windows Mobile is the way to go.

I'll get me coat, it's the one with the phone that does what i want in the pocket, not what the manufacturer decides i am allowed to do on it....!

Flame

Is it really the G1 / HTC Dream???

Erm...Yes it is, and these first appeared late last week, putting the kibosh on the 'Only 24 hours before the official launch' headline.

So where's the apple Fanboy to start the badly spelt, grammatically awful flaming???

G1 Android launch pictures leaked?

Still ugly then.

I'm still interested on actually getting hold of one and seeing what it can do. If it does everything i need to (camera and video call not even vaguely important to me. Don;t think i've used a phone camera more than 10 times in the last 7 years!!) then I might think about it.

It is Ugly, but then if it's a workhorse, who cares.

As for the missing "what, no video" type posts, i'm sure there being feverishly typed into various keyboards as we speak!!

Confirmed: HTC's big-screen Touch HD smartphone

what's the point????

@brimful

It's got a 3.5 jack. and it's not recessed either!

But seriously, Enough of the fanboy behaviour from both sides! Sheesh, as soon as a mobile phone gets released and reviewed these days, all you get is a flame war...getting a bit boring now!

Strange, I've been using mobile since the mid 90's and never had a problem with any of these stickers.

Maybe I just don't sweat enough and avoid using my phone in the rain.

I've worked in the mobile industry for a few years now and every time i have seen a mobile with one of these stickers showing it has got wet, there's usually some rust or corrosion somewhere else as well, or at lest some crud that shows that there was excess liquid in the device at some point. I can only think of one that didn't have any corrosion, and that had the dye from the sticker all over the inside so it had obviously got wet.

The manufacturers I've worked with (Nokia, Ericsson (pre Sony) and yes, HTC) use this as a guide, but if there is no other evidence then it is ignored, as it is well known that they are not the most reliable of tests.

Any manufacturer that does base their decision solely on the colour of the sticker is not to be trusted, but considering I've worked for three of the biggest in the last few years, I doubt anyone would be that silly!

Hardly a ploy to get out of replacements....

All manufacturers have tamper proof seals (although usually just a sticker over a screw saying void) and Moisture sensitive stickers inside somewhere.

Standard practice for the mobile industry nowadays.

Paris cos she knows about getting wet....

This old chestnut again!

Erm....Is this not the same deal as the old Rabbit phones back in the 80's, where you could only use them in sight of the signs!

Can't see it catching on myself....not when PAYG phones that work everywhere are so damn cheap now.

Paris cos there's something about rampant rabbits.....

Always better when there's more people in on the joke!

I remember working in an Army-surplus-cum-camping store many years ago and sending the new guy to the next store along because 'a regular customer has asked for some dehydrated water and we've run out'.

Thankfully, the rival shop down the road sent him back with a nice bag of talcum powder for his troubles!

Grainy as awlays, but still likely.

Lets see.

Third phone in bottom row. Running the HTC manilla interface which has been widely shown around.

Also, they look extremely similar to the MDA compact 4 which is HTC made as we know.

Seems like they are quite likely to be the new HTC phones if you ask me.....

is it the Diamond or the Raphael is the question???

Why Paris? The phone looks good, she doesn't!
