The S in the 5S means Stagnant and the c in the 5C means Complacent.
Yes I do not own or want to own an Apple product but that is my choice. However I used to enjoy seeing what Apple came out with to push the development from other phones.
But now Apple is either playing catch-up or taking baby steps that are not revolutionary. Has all of their employees with ideas left the company? Or is innovation in this market DOA and it's down to tuning what is there ... to squeeze out an extra 20 minutes of battery life or make Siri able to talk like Sponge Bob? Or has Apple become like Microsoft and focusing on profits over innovation by releasing a few "new" things just to keep the profits coming in? (Hopefully not the last one we don't need a Big Step-Brother)
64bit was expected to be on mobile phones in 2014. Apple just came in ahead of the predictions and of course Samsung and others will follow.
"ARM goes 64-bit. (October 31 2012)
The Cambridge-based chip designer has shown is 64-bit architecture that will power the next generation (and beyond) of smartphones and tablets, while also providing Intel Corporation with competition in the servers market."
(October 30 2012)
"The Cortex A53 and A57 are ARM's latest and greatest mobile chipset designs, another important leap in its quest to get its mobile chipsets closer in performance to desktop CPU. Designed for single core or multi-core configurations, the products made from these designs will be the first mobile chipsets to support 64-bit processing. This puts ARM in a prime strategic spot as tablet devices are popping up with the intention of replacing a laptop. Apple, Texas Instruments, NVIDIA, Samsung, and plenty of other companies use ARM's reference designs for their own CPUs. While both are powerful, the A53 is designed with efficiency in mind, while the A57 is all about performance. The added power, along with ARM's experience in optimizing the power consumption of its chips could give the company an advantage over the likes of Intel, who is relatively new to the mobile CPU game. But don't get too antsy: these things ain't comin until 2014. "
Not an apple fan (evident by the icon) but not here to bash the pending new phone either.
From Apple's standpoint the iP5 must be a long step forward from the last phone. The last release wasn't what everyone was expecting and sales weren't as explosive as previous versions. Which because of that and 2 year contracts people didn't upgrade as much as before. Not saying iP4s wasn't a good product, just people were expecting more from it and in some ways gave Android a chance to catch up and move ahead a little. I think you could tell that by the way the stock market reacted both then and now.
Interesting that in someways Apple became the company they attacked in their Super Bowl ad.
Wonder when they will drop the mp3 players from their line-up. With the iPs are they even needed any more?
Looking forward to Apple uping the ante for the next wave of Space err phone invaders. Having the freedom to pick what phone you want to use is a good thing. Shouldn't be only one phone or one company to pick from ... competition breeds innovation.
There has been a consistent issue of Samsung's plasma TVs screen cracking internally (the exterior screen is intact). Samsung states their warranty does not cover physical damage and such incidents are considered just that even though it happens without anyone touching the screen.
I have a Samsung LCD and haven’t had any problems over the past 3 years I’ve had it and consider Samsung a decent product. However it seems that these plasma TVs have a design flaw and Samsung is refusing to accept it. Just a warning because if you are going to put out a good chunk of money for this set, hopefully it will last more than a few hours. This may be a case to get the extended warranty offered by places like Best Buy if they cover physical damages caused by ghosts or aliens and not by Samsung design flaws.
Well let's see according to the creationist christians coalition (now known as the CCC phonetically) all but one family was murdered by water which covered the entire planet (and apparently only took 40 days and nights to accomplish that task).
But from god's perspective it means that inbreeding and incest were permitted by their god to begin to and continue to repopulate the human race and that we are all related. Hmm that could explain man people throughout history. So I guess Hitler was just that crazy uncle in "our" christian family tree.
Would rather see the creationist museum under water for 40 days and 40 nights or a few thousand years of dirt and let their pet dinosaur dig them out.
May Kevin Costner save us!
"Earlier this spring, the folks at WTVD-TV, the local ABC affiliate in Durham, N.C., had a bright idea. To drum up interest in the station -- and raise its profile on Facebook, Twitter and Google Buzz -- it organized a sweepstakes contest and gave 11 lucky winners the hottest prize in consumer electronics: an Apple (AAPL) iPad.
What the contest organizers didn't realize -- but would have quickly learned if they'd done their due diligence -- was that they'd just run afoul of Apple's Guidelines for Third Party Promotions. Operating on the theory that its brand is one of its most valuable properties, Apple has laid out some pretty strict rules about what companies can and can't do with its products. Among them: (I quote)
•iPad, iPhone and the iPhone Gift Card may not be used in third-party promotions.
•iPod touch is only allowed to be used in special circumstances and requires a minimum purchase of 250 units.
•You may NOT use the Myriad Set font on or in connection with web sites, products, packaging, manuals, or promotional/advertising materials.
•The use of "free" as a modifier in any Apple product reference in a prominent manner (headlines, call- outs, etc.) is prohibited.
•You must submit all marketing materials related to the promotion of Apple products to Apple for review.
The two-page document that lists these guidelines -- and many more -- has been around at least since January, but it seems that Apple has begun reaching out to companies to enforce them only recently. Earlier this year, Cult of Mac's Nicole Martinelli counted more than three dozen active iPad sweepstakes and giveaways, including contests run by Mashable, MacMall and Mahalo. None of them, as far as she knows, was ever told not to do it.
Apple declined to comment."

So guess the Apple law department will be hiring
Actually used something very similar when I was a contractor for the military back in 1992 and was used on an aircraft carrier. Was "updated" to have a 3.5 drive.
The thing wouldn't fit in the overhead on the airplane and was definately a luggable or dragable.
I remember Lindows being sold at Wal-Mart and being pumped as a low cost system with no mention it wasn't Windows. Wal-Mart soon dropped those systems because so many people expecting it to be Windows and were disappointed to find out it was Linux with a GUI and returned it.
Should create a Linux distro with either Yapple (Why Apple) or @ple (a portable linux environment) and market it. I don't think would be sued for those would I?
When the iPv4 was released and Jobs was having problems connecting to the AT & T network, why didn't he realize he was holding the phone wrong?
Since he claims every phone has this problem, including then all previous versions of the iphone, he should have shown the right and wrong ways to hold the phone.
One thing as well from the release show, the iPv4 must not work well in large crowds … if the majority of the surrounding users are using wifi, would that issue also apply to the iPad too?
Sorry there Steve you're starting to sound like Bill Clinton and that beeping sound from you backing up is getting louder.
