Just turn off secure boot it it just security theatre. If a bad actor can access your boot stack you are totally owned any way. Secure boot only protects the boot stack it will not prevent you from becoming owned. EFI works fine without secure boot.

Hmmm maybe if the Bob or Fred knew how to read the man pages the problem would be solved. Also online help is sooooo much better for any Linux distro. So if you need help ask. Someone knowledgeable will help. Or look it up yourself the any question has been asked and answered on the Internet

That's why you should always have a separate home partition. BTW for uninitiated all personal stuff is always in home.

Personally I keep two root partition one for current OS and one for next. I install the new OS into the next one and test. Once I am happy that all works great on my hardware I switch the home partition to be mounted on the new OS and the old partition becomes the one waiting for next.

Two advantages a new clean install cleans out all the old crud that accumulates like programs installed but never used again. I don't have old system config files from 6 versions back laying around giving the new binaries fits. Second I can be sure all works before committing to the new version and can drop back if need be.

It generally takes less then an hour to remember and install my main programs. Forget some it takes a couple of minuets to install once noticed.

Much better then trying to muck around with potential bad configs and other things from old system. And it only costs 30 or so gig for the second partition. (note I still use ext4 not convinced about BTRFS yet)

Well under educated people are in general easier to control politically. We don't provide generally a good enough foundation education because no one is willing to raise the money to do it. If the Companies want better trained workers anti up your taxes and help fund the basic education system. But I guess it is cheaper to steal trained people then to pay to train people.

KDE has taken it further not only can you have multiple desktops but also multiple activities which consist of multiple desktop sets. So you can have one activity set up with special desktops set for end of month inventory and another for your gaming.
