Extreme porn law goes live - are you ready?

RIPA again

On the subject of laws eventually being used for things other than those they were originally intended - the RIPA again - being used to find out whether a family was really in a school catchment area by a local council - and putting them under surveillance for two weeks.

I think we can start to assume that laws such as these are used by those in authority to deal with behaviour that they find distasteful but that no-one would consider to be illegal.

F-Secure claim to have done it

F-Secure claim their software decrypts the files ...

"F-Secure Anti-Virus can detect and decrypt files encrypted by Gpcode trojan as well as it can detect and remove the trojan's file. If you are hit by this trojan and your files are encrypted, please scan ALL files on your hard disk and they will be decrypted."

Virgin Media

Virgin aren't going with Phorm without letting us know, apparently - they're trying to be transparent.

Also, they've said no-one will be forced to go with it if they don't want to (presumably it'll be opt out rather than opt in but better than nothing).

Thanks to Richard Cain for the link.

@GP

"what happens if I drop dead - and NHSMail doesn't notice!"

You're kidding right?

I'm pretty certain most mail systems would suffer from this problem.

Thumb Up

I use it - it's pretty good

I work for the NHS and I use my nhs.net account so I can work across multiple sites and still have access to secure email.

The interface is pretty good and the IMAP functionality is great for when I'm working at my desk.

Personally I think it's one of the better parts of the National Programme for IT.
