Amazon Prime Air flight crashes in Texas after 6,000ft nosedive

Re: Sounds like an old problem

From what I've read, the only loss of a 767 due to mechanical failure was caused by a thrust reverser activating in mid-flight. When one of your engines suddenly starts producing negative thrust--that's pretty much impossible to recover from. That's supposed to be no longer possible though.

Re: I'm going to speculate...

News reports didn't mention any mayday call. Bird strike seems unlikely. It has to be some kind of malfunction, like an uncommanded thrust-reverser deployment.

Re: The concept is not reall dead if you ask me

How likely are you to meet people who hang out at a subreddit? Members of a BBS typically all lived in the same area code. It was quite normal to have get-togethers. Home visits happen frequently too, as back then BBSes were forums to buy and sell computer parts. The fact that people know each other at a personal level makes the atmosphere very different.

What about the children?

A dollar fifty might not be a lot of money in the rich, developed world. For those who hadn't the fortune to be born in the prosperous North, it's a significant amount. Nearly 35% of the world's populate live on less than a dollar a day. If a father has to pay for the Office beta download, then it could be very well mean his children will go without food that day.

This exploitative decision is simply immoral.
