Employees sue for unpaid Windows Vista overtime

@those who are incredulous

Yes, windows CAN take a long time to boot - throw in a few corporate scripts to run that check registry settings and software installed. Add a roaming profile that copies the user's settings from a centralised location (that may or may not be in the same geographic location), then allow time for countless bits of bloatware to load. I have seen Win XP boxes take 30 minutes to boot. Add in the additional overhead of Vista and viola...

Laptop has been 'found'

Stop the presses!

"Press Release

Verified Identity Pass Confirms It Has Found Laptop It Reported Missing; Preliminary Investigation Indicates No Information Compromised"

Still doesn't mitigate the fact that the data was stored unencrypted on an unsecured laptop that could (and did) go missing.

Missing: 80GB PS3. Last seen: Sony's website

Hard Disk Size

From what I understand Ubisoft now has 2 games out that consume 5Gb of the PS3's disk each when they install. Sounds like 40Gb will run out pretty quick if games keep evolving this way - like PC Games have evolved for example.

SATA and Windows XP

@andy gibson

I believe if you use a Windows XP SP2 Install CD it will recognise SATA drives. You can create your own if you don't have a Windows XP with SP2 install CD handy - it is called a Slipstream CD and instructions are available on the internet.

Nintendo takes shine to golden DS Lite

Unhappy

As usual for Nintendo

When I was in Tokyo early this year they had much more variety of colour than we get here in the UK, or in the US. I saw Metallic Pink, Gold, Silver, Metallic Blue, and Dark Blue. Those are the ones I can remember. Much like the goodies on Club Nintendo we don't seem to get such niceties...

On a side note, the DS is not that much cheaper in Japan than it is in the UK, unlike the Wii. Couldn't be anything to do with the fact that the games aren't region encoded so grey imports are a lot more viable, could it?

Thumb Down

Backwards Compatibility - don't make me laugh

When I look at my collection of PS/2 games - none of the ones I play are supported!

Guitar Hero - nope

GT4 - umm, nope

and so on...

what a con.

Move the power switch too!

It is a shame they did not have the sense to move the power switch as well. I have found that I have tended to knock that off mid-game in certain games (GTA IIRC) - most annoying - I think it is mainly during manouvers requiring the right shoulder switch to be depressed that it can happen.

Anyway, I thought we were all supposed to be boycotting Sony after their abyssmal treatment of the world's CD-buying public, European wallet-raping, conversion of laptops into incendiary devices, and other such capers.

Xbox 360 Elite to raid Europe next month

Will it be quieter?

While the pricing of the xbox360 is better than the PS3, I object to how noisy the console is. Will the Elite be quieter? If so, I may consider getting one.

Sony PlayStation 3

Playstation3 on sale in Japan

Not only is the Playstation 3 about £260 retail in Japan but the stores can't get rid of them. When I was there in February they had signs in front of the stores advertising them at a 20% discount!!!! It galls me the price we are forced to pay for them in the UK.

I considered getting one from Hong Kong (£250)... they are a Pal region so we should be able to play our old PS2 Games, right? WRONG!!! Sony have given them NTSC Playstations, so the poor consumers there cannot use the PS3 to play older games or even to watch their DVDs.

I would mention the new Blueray regions, but I think I need to go find a quiet corner and calm down a bit...
