UK border control can't count

Sam Millner

Remember...

There are 3 kinds of people, those who can count, and those who can't

The missing five-minute Linux manual for morons

Sam Millner

Ubuntu versions are sequencial...

not that anyone will read this, particularly not the author, but each of the Ubuntu versions are in alphabetical order following on from the previous one.

So the next one will be Hardy heron, followed by more ridiculous names such as ippy igloo joppy joey etc.

Man buys MacBook Air, pulls it apart, takes pics

Sam Millner

Its still ridiculous

They have this amazing "remote disk" feature, that uses other DVD and CD drives, to excuse not using a built in DVD player, but cannot be used to play CDs and DVDs? I'm sorry, but I'm not converting to Mac for that. Linux all the way.

Schools minister touts 'one interweb per child' pork barrel

Sam Millner

He's my MP, and a numpty

He's also hypothesized about Myspace access at school, about usage of i iPods in lessons, He's a great guy but he thinks that computers will solve all our problems and that using them makes kids more focused. I'm only 17 myself, and I know that isn't true.

Jim Knight, Get a grip.

Wii named fastest-selling console in UK history

Sam Millner

@MATT Apples and pears? Hardly

The importance of Wii, and the reason its selling so well is BECAUSE its not just using new technology! PS3 and XBOX 360 were games consoles for gamers, extensions on the PS2 and XBOX, with faster gorier better graphics and quality games etc.

I think nintendo realised they needed something new. Their games aimed at 12-15 year olds weren't selling. Their doing it with the DS, advertising all this "keep your brain active mumbo jumbo" and created a console that people see (although as you say, not technologically that far ahead) as one step closer to VR, and is very affordable, its actually cheaper in actual money that a SNES was (SNES premiered at £200 new originally).

I think Nintendo have been incredibly clever in the way they've marketed it, advertised it and their choice of controller at the multi purpose device which can act as anything, and I think that Sony and MS will have to think similarly to succeed.

By the way, please don't let my opinon bother you anyone, I'm only 17, if you think I'm full of crap, blame it on the school system or "parents these days" I'm not worth ranting at.

Could Linux become the dominant OS?

Sam Millner

To all the People who've got this far

I salute you.

Its taken me more than an hour to read through most of these comments, my goodness. But then clearly the sort of people reading through these and replying, like me, have nothing better to do with their time.

Have a good one

Yahoo!'s pink liberation army a threat to America's youth

Take it easy on him?

Here's one for you - Tolerate his intolerance.

He's entitled to his beliefs as are you, you may think that gaiety is ok, he clearly doesn't. This is pretty much the only website left in the world where over-PCism means that writers have to write what considered to be ok.

I heard one guy (who isn't a christian/bible basher/whatever you nazis call them nowadays) having a conversation with a homosexual...

"What! do you have a problem with the fact I'm gay?"

"Yes, I do! I'm allowed to think its wrong that you guys do what you do! Thats why you can't have babies!"

Come on "right wing knee jerk neo facists" "ignorant Bible-thumper" "blatantly homophobic and ignorant" little bit bigoted yourself there lads.

Since when was the internet a dictatorship run by humanistic, "Tolerate everything" hippies?

oh, yeh last year, but the Reg is happy to stand out and occasionally write very biased and bigoted writing (they even claim to be the most biased website on the net [lost the link]) So take it easy and tolerate intolerance

George Bush's watch clocked on eBay

Sam Millner

I love people like this (ie webster phreaky)

I could rip on his name but I'm not immature. Instead I'll rat on his lack of logic.

Firstly if it offends you, why the hell are you reading it?

Secondly - I have only ever heard the reg claim to be the most biased opinionated British morons ever, (like me =p) if you have heard them claim any differently ie to be a serious tech site etc, please let me know.

Thirdly I'd like to quote whoever the chicken was quoting on Chicken run "Bloody Americans! Late for every war, overpayed, oversexed and over here."

Nuff said.

PS I'm a 17 year old english jerk who has no business posting this, so any insults/witty responses would be wasted.

Cornish separatists menace Jamie Oliver

Sam Millner

Name Change?

I'm sure they used to be known as the Cornwall Unified National Truro-based Seperatists. Maybe my mistake.

Schools ban iPod cheaters

Sam Millner

in the UK...

They are banned already. If you have a mobile phone or Ipod/MP3 player in the room (not just on you) during your exam all your exams AT LEAST on that exam board get failed automatically. Using them to cheat would be very easy. In January in an internal exam (same conditions as an external one) I managed to listen to my Ipod for 25 minutes after I finished the paper without anyone noticing, so cheating would have been very easy.

Sunspots linked to Aussie droughts?

Sam Millner

So I was hearing...

'The Great Global Warming Swindle' which was on C4 recently (a must watch for all), they were saying that sunspots are the cause of most of the worlds weather, and showed charts which strongly suggested that their weather predictions were far more accurate than those of the weather people (who said it would be the worst winter ever in the UK, and it wasn't). He, again, said that sunspots are, at least in part, responsible for the 100 year drought that parts of Australia are currently struggling with.
