What is this bullsh*t, Google? Nexus phones starved of security fixes after just three years

David Spalding

I bought into the Nexus 4 when my third HTC Amaze replacement pissed me off for the last time. Since, I've upgraded to a refurb Nexus 5. Not all Nexus users are early adopters, but we're FRUGAL adopters. Both were a bargain.

Alas, Google things their own phones are as disposable as anyone elses. Add to that, I will not be able to use all these Qi wireless chargers i bought with future Google phones. :( I'm hooked on Qi now, Google, thanks for leaving me out in the cold.

Unhappy

Re: hmm

HTC US' support forum had a complete crash last spring, and when they returned all the posts in the Amaze section were gone -- weeks' worth of complaints and problem discussions. When I asked, I was informed that that data "couldn't be recovered."

Wow. If HTC can't do simple database backups, how good can their phones be? (A: not so great. My Amaze is a dud, One owners at work also report ongoing, unresolved problems.)

Why the Apple-Samsung verdict is good for you, your kids and tech

This jury had its collective head so far up its head (thanks to the valiant efforts of a clearly biased and inept jury foreman), that this verdict is 180 out from what it should've been.

WTF?

"Sensitive" passwords? Really?

I question whether someone's password used on Facebook is "sensitive." It's not like RockYou was a banking app.

Granted, it doesn't excuse the lousy passwords people use, but I can easily understand people using stoopid passwords for a stoopid app running on the consistently frivolous and stoopid Facebook.

Not on a Nokia 6682....

Odd, that when I downloaded the beta app this morning, after seeing Google hype that the beta was supported on Nokia Symbian phones, installed it, and tried to use My Location, to see "This is not supported on your phone." Grrr, grumble, gripe.
