UK confirms e-voting death

Iain

@Steve

Postal Voting is not trusted, though. The Rowntree Trust and Election Commisioner reports mentioned in the article were severely critical of it. The reference to e-voting was simply to point out that it doesn't provide a viable solution.

We've already had convictions in Peterborough for attempted postal vote fraud, with more trials pending. Hopefully the death of e-voting will mark the start of a thorough overhaul of the system.

How believable are government claims on ID cards?

Iain

@Oli Wright

'"Perhaps finding out that the police are already (illegally) recording conversations between innocent people and their MP."

Hang on. I'm all for scrapping ID cards but where did this come from? If you're referring to the recent scandal then you might want to rethink the word "innocent".'

Babar Ahmad is in jail because of a US extradition warrant issued in 2004. He has not been convicted of any crime, nor has he been charged with any crime in the UK. He is therefore "innocent" in the eyes of the law.

Lily Allen 'in talks' to become Doctor Who's assistant

Acting Experience?

Billie Piper didn't use Dr Who "for her transition from music to acting" - she went to theatre school, and had already starred in a number of BBC plays before getting the role of Rose.

What acting experience does Lily have?

I can't help feeling that the "source" is really Lily's agent...
