Review: Star Wars: The Force Awakens offers a new hope for the franchise

Tom Paris

Watched it at 3AM this morning with my two teenage boys, they absolutely loved it. It was a very very good homage to the 1977 original (but Darth Vader was a bit rubbish, too good looking... and Yoda/Luke characters have had sex changes...). Will go see it again this weekend on the big screen, nice memories..

Obvious (or stupid) question..

if it's unbreakable then why don't they make the back out of it too?

Re: Ovine diversity

I wonder just how many readers had to look at photo again to understand that one, I did!

You! Pirate! Stop pirating, or we shall admonish you politely. Repeatedly, if necessary

I hope they are going to be able to distinguish between legit torrent files.... that lastest Centos is quite heavy.... not that I'm hugely worried as only the NSA/GCHQ (and I assume the Chinese) (and the Tooting Revolutionary Front) (and People's Front of Judea) are able to read my encrypted stream and they don't seem that interested as long as I don't put 'Let's bomb USA/Peking/Chicken Cottage/Judea" in my code)

eBay faces multiple probes into mega-breach

Tom Paris

Sigh.... it's only a matter of time before the same thing happens to Amazon et al...information wants to be 'free'..between hackers and the NSA...... keeping secrets in the internet age is becoming troublesome...and I'm running out of addresses that I use in my passords, fortunately I've just moved to Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyll-llantysiliogogogoch...

EBay, you keep using the word 'SECURITY'. I do not think it means what you think it means

Tom Paris

Known about it for two weeks...

and they didn't think to meantion this absolutely immediately...

and no emails from them

and no message on the front page

lies, damned lies, and statistics

There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics. ', 'Benjamin Disraeli

Disraeli was pretty close: actually, there are Lies, Damn lies, Statistics, Benchmarks, and Delivery dates.

(insert own number here)% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

Statistics are like a bikini. What they reveal is suggestive, but what they conceal is vital. Aaron Levenstein

Smoking is one of the leading causes of statistics. Fletcher Knebel

I gather, young man, that you wish to be a Member of Parliament. The first lesson that you must learn is, when I call for statistics about the rate of infant mortality, what I want is proof that fewer babies died when I was Prime Minister than when anyone else was Prime Minister. That is a political statistic. Winston Churchill

Garbage in - garbage out

I'm SURE I'm missing the point but aren't the songs on your iPod are already compessed in a lossly format and have already lost the CD quality...I dinna really fancy having to re-encode all my tracks again...and what bitrate do they come from the iTunes store...not CD quality I suspect...

Leopard on a PC?

Happy

Treat it as a trial version..

Like a hell of a lot of folk out there I installed JAS 10.4.8 on my PC, the biggest problem for most folk is the graphic card but I easily found drivers for my Nvidia 7600 at insanelymac, I played around with OSX for about six months and liked it so much I went and bought a real Mac, as I read on the insanelymac forums – think of the hacked installs as trial versions, you might wanna take note of that Steve Jobs or even release a official trial version for all those Dells out there, like a lot of addicts we just need a free shot at it before we get hooked six months down the line..

At work I use a Windows machine for all my business applications but at home I use a Mac as it's so focused for a home user, iTunes, iPhoto, iDvd and IMovie are just so easy and convenient to use, my wife just loves iPhoto and the “events” ordering layout and skimming over Events is so intuitive..
