I want it removed, police was no, solicitor said you cant.

Very true wot she said ^----<<< After nearly 12 years at HP & HPE I am afraid that is the truth. Pass to India and the support workers are so silo'd in their specific capability, it's about getting the call passed or closed to fit measured resolution / pass the buck metrics.
Here I am, with full MSDN access which includes all MS stuff. I, sitting here am questioning the pain and benefit moving from one free to me OS to another. I don't see any value in upgrading any of my windows 7 PC's & VM's to windows 8. I have less of a quandary over migrating suse linux migrations.
What has gone wrong in my consideration?
We have all got to stick to the one fits all model. ;-)
I have always considered Linux / UNIX VM Clients being equal partners in a shitty time-share scam. Scale of economy my arse!
Paris, as she shares her herp's evenly amongst all subscribing members, no matter how they try to hog her attention.
Have been home working for 5 years.
Have localised full desktop, remote backup, VPN, remote managed AV software and software distribution, remote support, encrypted hard drive.
Only issue I have is that I cant print when connected to the corp VPN, I could fudge that by changing my IP range of the networked printer but I prefer not to. I just disconnect and reconnect.
I work with PM's, SME's & Others around the globe often using following the sun support.
I have to say I work harder and more effectively without all the petty politics and intrusions of office life, also without the commute its one less pain in the arse.
It enables me to be at home so I am able to let the child in from school and allow my wife to be able to attend university.
For me it works well for the life and work balance.
Cheers
Installed Windows 7 64 on the kids gaming machine from my corp MSDN, works 100% no issues. Its quicker, slicker and he is more than happy. Thats 1 month plus and almost 1TB of games + MS Office etc etc...
Zero complaints... (*I hate to say).
Installed 7 32 Bit on the Mrs PC for her Uni work, she's 100% happy and one month in on a crappy dell single core with 1GB of ram. She thinks its much better than XP + Bloat + More Bloat.
Installed 7 32 Bit on my *now spare, dont ask free laptop* dual core 1.8 2GB ram and its running fine for remote access to my nix box / office, no gripes...
Installed 7 64 bit on my Nix server quad core AMD 6GB RAM and 8TB RAID 5.(*on a spare pata drive for the kids mates to play on when they come round), 100% happy no issues... 4 weekends of solid gaming and no bitching.
WTF M$.... its actually quite good.
Maybe its the fact the PCs run for a day and are switched off, unlike my *nix box which is 24/7 until his mates turn up wanting left4dead game play.
As a *nix user and having to put up with 7 of MSDN for testing ,(wish it was 7 of 9), I would say anyone thinking of deploying a new immature OS on a desktop is insane, Its a damn good desktop and i like it, the kid likes it, the wife likes it...... but corporate usage?? gimme some time man....
The concept of 'Early Adopters' spells out their desire to be rim-rolled (c).
I updated the kids pc from 64bit vista to 64/7 and there was a marked improvement, upgrade was very smooth and with zero errors.
All the games that ran on Vista run on 64/7 the only app that failed was daemon tools (*I was pre-warned by 7) oh and Kaspersky required a reinstall as I had changed the OS.
2.8ghz Core2 (O/C), 2 GB RAM, ATI 4670 Video
Kids verdict.. s'ok (aged 12)
Personally im sticking with my OpenSuse box as it does what I want and whats needed.
I'm undecided... do i install a my spare 1TB drive into my NIX box to try it ? I have corp access to MSDN and so assume it will download in about an hour.
Then i get to thinking about the poor souls that enjoy self-harming, I speak to the Mrs and she says 'do you really need any more stress?' and she has a point.
She hated the Vista on her laptop and prefers the XP after i reinstalled, I prefer XP with !NoMachine SSH GUI to my NIX box for Label / Tin / Does.
I was thinking on giving it to the kid to try as an experiment to get an impartial 12 year old view on it (*actually i think thats the analytical route to follow).
Will post his conclusion after the weekend!
