Gay animals going at it like rabbits

A very partisan study I'd say

I mean, it totally leaves out transgender fish for example (clownfish, wrasses...) And isn't there a transvestite lizard species with males who dress female, the better to hoodwink the big, butch males and get closer to their harems?

Sheesh. No wonder you went AC.

Fans decry tennis gal's breast-slash plan

anarchic-teapot

Re: sports bra?

She's obviously wearing one already, and it still looks bloody uncomfortable to me. A 'C' cup is bad enough, is the poor soul really cursed with a DD?

Actually, the tennis angle is probably just an excuse. Very few women actually enjoy men staring at their tits all the time, despite what your favourite movies might indicate.

How do women fit so much crap into such a small bag?

Like the TARDIS, they're bigger on the inside.

Tiscali titsup fears grow

anarchic-teapot

Re: I like small ISPs

"the only problem was Tiscali kept on hoovering up all the small ISPs"

Well, that *is* a very effective way of going bust: buying up other companies without paying attention to how much cash you really have, how well they'll fit into the existing structure, or how much it will cost everyone to adapt.

(For incurable geeks, compare to buying computers without paying attention to hardware compatibility, OS or available software, then finding out you can't afford to pay the sysadmin to make it work).

As I understand it, the auditors reckon Tiscali is no longer worth the money, time and effort put into it, it's only worth what someone else is prepared to pay for it. I could probably stretch to a packet of fun-sized Mars bars, if anyone's starting a kitty.

US parkies in 'burrow-buster' marmot detonation campaign

@LINCARD1000

"In many circles (don't ask) 'pre' is used as a shortened version of 'pre-cum'."

Not in French it ain't. It just means "meadow".

Afterwards, what you do in the meadow is your own business.

Summary care records - you might die, but they never will

anarchic-teapot

Ah, Whitehallspeak

"As with all digital records systems, complete removal would require the hardware holding records to be completely sanitised. This is a process that destroys all data held, for example on a server or hard drive, and not just a particular record."

Reading between the lines here, Minister, I *think* what they're saying is that to remove one record they would need to blow up the data centre.

Sounds good to me. Can I do it?

Most undergraduates 'show fear when asked to do maths'

Re: iR HAVE DA SMARTZ EVN DO i CARNT SPELL

"If a time-travelling day-trip full of Maths and English students from the '70s & '80s suddenly turned up and read these comments, they'd snigger their socks off and call half of you a big bunch of illiterate Spastics and would then most likely kick your arses for it. Maybe even some Jif Lemon in the face. Ah happy days...."

Apart of course from the fact that none of us was ignorant enough to use the term "spastic" as an insult, nor yobbish enough to use ascorbic acid as a weapon. And literal arse-kicking was restricted to the karate club, while metaphorical arse-kicking was beneath us.

Travelling in time... well yes, same way as everyone else. We're not dead yet, you know.

That is never a grease gun

I looked at the video, that's never a grease gun unless there's some new euphemism I'm not yet aware of. I can only assume one of the female astronauts took one look at her male colleagues and added the useful little implement to the - ahem - Tool kit.

Employees sue for unpaid Windows Vista overtime

@Sceptical Bastard

If those companies are running Active Directory to manage domains and group policies, then 15 minutes sounds about right. XP + AD takes over 5 minutes to boot where I'm currently working. On a normal day, without updates. It is a big company.

Texas cop tasers himself

Barack Obama will be president

anarchic-teapot

@ Anonymous Coward #1

Hmmm one of these days someone really should take the time to explain to the Merkin knee-jerk reactionaries what 'socialism' actually is. I mean come on, guys, it's not fair to them, they're only 100 years behind the rest of the Universe on understanding this.

All the more hilarious, of course, as in Europe Obama would be considered centre-right.

IT angle: Obama seems like a sensible guy, here's hoping for a more pragmatic approach to RFID and Eye of Sauron and all that sci-fi-film-inspired crap.

French Senate passes bill to disconnect filesharers

anarchic-teapot

@yeah right

"Unless the article is poorly written, it would seem that the person needs to merely be accused, not actually found guilty of anything."

The article is correct. The principle of "innocent until proven guilty" is now enshrined in French law.

If the bill (like the UK, France is a bicameral legislature) ever gets through Parliament, there's a fair chance it'll be thrown out as unconstitutional as a result.

This sort of thing tends to give the shortarse with the brand-new trophy wife a hissy fit. I'm so looking forward to his next helping of egg on face.

Mozilla security chief: Apple should open up

anarchic-teapot

"That very, very few people bothered turning on Win2K's built-in safeties isn't Microsoft's fault."

Um, actually, it is to a fair extent, since they ignored standard industry practice and left everything open, rather than all safeguards on and let the sysadmin turn off those that aren't required.

Not that Apple's any better, or worse.

"What's wrong with being up-front and honest?"

Dear AC

Re: Totally unsurprising

"Alas, more evidence of the downward spiral Orange has encountered since being taken over by FT"

Er, Orange has *always* been part of FT.

Road Pricing 2.0 is two years away

anarchic-teapot

@ Martin Gregorie

"Toll booths along the lines the French use have to be cheaper to install and run. They also have the advantage of not being able to track vehicles using the autoroute."

Yup, and if you want you can subscribe to an automatic payment system that lets you fast-track through the toll payment queue. That's the only in-car gadgetry that's needed.

Look, what are the people that dream up these daft schemes on anyway? Control freaks on controlled substances...

A Suit said:

"How much time do people have? Because we know that people have less time now than they did before."

Uh-huh. And board and card games are becoming increasingly popular. The fashion is to invite friends round and make an evening of it, so it sounds like they either made a pig's ear of their research (probable) or were absolutely desperate (also highly probable) to revamp a well-known game out of all recognition in the hope that people who own the original version would also buy the new one. Idiots.

Top Jock cop calls for universal DNA database

Intel stinks

anarchic-teapot
Flame

@Kevin Fields

Industrial waste pollution is part of the country lifestyle? New one on me.

A big hello to all the ACs sticking up for Intel and remember, the secret is to keep banging the rocks together guys. For crying out loud, it's still pollution even if you start doing it miles away from a city centre (and let's just forget for the moment that cities were rapidly expanding even 15 years ago). While the builders may have been economical with the truth, it doesn't justify some big industrial plant merrily releasing methane (greenhouse gas) and hydrogen sulphide (poisonous) into the atmosphere.

Microsoft criticizes EU's 'unreasonable' judgement

anarchic-teapot

"unreasonable" and "error prone"

Well, MS would certainly know about that since every OS they release starts out unreasonably priced and bug-ridden.

To be fair they're not the only ones, but they *are* the living proof that "economies of scale" applies only to production costs when a monopoly or near-monopoly situation exists.

You're confusing "nut" and "kook" with "arsehole". Nut-jobs kill people like John Lennon, arseholes make prank calls to emergency services. Please don't mix them up again.
