FCC: Thanks for the concern, telcos, but we're not delaying Open Internet rules

Wizard of Oz OFFICIALLY 'most significant movie' EVER, says PNAS

Don S.

Based on the Criteria, I'm surprised Night of the Living Dead (1968 version) isn't number one. Given the current fascination with the whole zombie apocalypse thing.

I'm surprised no one brought this up.

He probably told the Flight Attendant "It's alright, I've played a pilot."

Despite Android lead, iOS devs slurp scads more mazuma

No surprise

Friend of mine ported his iPhone app over to the Android Marketplace. Within a day, pirated copies where showing up.

Patents, Copyrights, Trademarks, oh my.

Not a patent - a copyright big difference.

Jobs confirms iCloud's murder of iWeb

Don S.

Umm excuse me but

iWeb isn't tied into mobile me. It is a very rudimentary site builder that can publish to mobile me or be FTP'd to any other provider.

There are lots of service providers out there who can provide the space (and probably for a lot cheaper).

I'm sure everyone who uses iWeb on Mobile me can do the 5 minutes work required sometime before the end of June next year.

The TouchPad will meet the same fate as the Pre with that kind of lead time. Anyone wanting a pad isn't going to wait, to many options will be beating it to the market.

For those worried about "the cloud".

There is always pogo plug which provides cloud like usability, however you own the storage and have it located locally.

The only drawbacks are it isn't offsite backup and the horrible pink colour.

Microsoft has shifted 1.5 million Windows phones

Don S.

Title, we don't need no stinkin' title.

Read the article again, it's 1.5 million phones shipped, not sold. For all anyone knows there could be 1.49 million sitting in carrier warehouses (though I doubt it).

Confirmed: no iPad iBooks for Blighty

Don S.

Where do these ideas come from.

I really would like to know where the idea that iTunes is a DRM heavy environment?

The second that members of the PPMA (Pirate Paranoid Music Assoc.) allowed it DRM was gone from iTunes music. I have both ripped CD's and iTunes downloaded music and neither my iPod nor iTunes knows the difference.

There may be some DRM on downloaded videos as I don't download video using iTunes I wouldn't know. I do know that any DVDs ripped using Handbrake work no problems at all.

There is no reason, other then some musings from some winer from Adobe, that ebooks will be any different.

Just a reminder, Microsoft is the king of incompatible DRM, not Apple (See Zune/Plays for Sure).

P.S. I am still boycotting Amazon.ca because after 3 years they still couldn't be bothered to work out an MP3 download deal with the Canadian PPMA.

Nokia sues Apple over iPhone

Don S.

On the other hand, this wasn't filed in East Texas so it must be legit.

Amazon tosses gelded Kindle at UK readers

Don S.

No Kindle Luv

No Kindle for you!

Amazon Kindle to burn into to UK next week?

Don S.

Fixed it for ya

Kindle is currently only available to buy in the United States of America.

The Kindle is not available from Amazon.ca. ironically, lots of Kindle accessories are available, but not the device itself.

One of the 2 reasons I am currently boycotting Amazon.ca. The other is the lack of MP3 downloads as per Amazon.com.

Apple won't take tablet to September iPod event, says mole

Don S.

We will see what we see

Back in June the same moles were saying we would see no Mac announcements at WWDC.

I'll wait for the event thanks.

As far as there being no "target market" for the Mac tablet, it seems to me the nay-sayers thought the same thing about the iPhone before it was launched.
