Not Just Radio Amateurs

The muddied spectrum will not just effect radio amateurs but anyone or system relying on low level signals on radio frequencies up to around 200MHz. This includes FM broadcasting, radio astronomy, aircraft voice communication, dock, estuary and coastal communications.

The over-riding problem, one that I don't expect a solution for, is that the radio spectrum is seen merely as a commodity which is overseen by a technically ignorant government .

AC is about right!

AC is about right! Dickhead will do though judging by the poster's ignorance of the problem. As someone who suffered wipe out of all SSB signals (not just AM) on all shortwave frequencies up to 18MHz I can assure the poster that a filter is of no use in these circumstances. When the typical background noise level rises more than 30db in a 2.7KHx bandwidth due to three PLT devices within 50 metres Mr Dickhead's filter is about as much use as a liquorice allsort!

As to the last paragraph and his dig at the RSGB, the mis-use of funds by the General Manager relates to a credit card and has nothing to do with the Spectrum Defence Fund.

We cannot always take the easiest way and still maintain a peaceable society - we have to give and take. Sometimes to avoid pollution we have to take extra care.

I notice that fans of satellite TV seem to run cable all over the place to get their fix of X Factor or whatever. Now if I lived in a cottage with five foot thick walls then it would be a cinch to take my CAT5 out through a hole in a window frame and in the same way where ever I wanted a connection. Cheap, fast connection and non polluting - simples!
