Google to save US from fossil fuels

Geothermal ? Excellent idea

Let California lead the way with a few underground nukes in the San Andreas Fault , if Western Cal' separates from the rest of the US there should be a large molten lava river to provide lots of geothermal.

Where are Google's offices by the way?

To set Laser printer on stun:- Raise above the head of intended victim, release suddenly. ( For multiple simultaneous targets, more arms ... and printers are required.)

My kettle is 2·4 Kw and it boils in under 2 minutes, the Vesta ( Named after a box of matches) should be able to provide me with a cup of tea in less than 20 seconds, I'll buy one!

Automatic trains

Hitachi build automatic railway systems, but I think they still sit a meatbag in the cab for the punters to look at. Lille in France has the longest automatic metro system in the world and France ,Germany and the UK have all experimented and are considering automatic systems.

@ASH safety systems are necessary because there is no way to prevent a driver from being distracted occasionally, head clamping and eyelid removal is apparently frowned on by unions, the responsibility in the event of an accident involving missed signals is usually put down to the driver in the first instance pending inquiries.

GOVUK taking a liberty near you

As someone earlier mentioned,`anyone critical of the UK gov may have to have their content hosted in Russia´, yeah and probably have to live there too!

In response to Andy Burn'em (Books, Computers or anything not approved by Govuk). The job of controlling content in the lives of children, whether online or elsewhere is the responsibility of parents. The whole point of our having evolved this way , where mature humans give birth to young that have a relatively prolonged immature stage, is so that the relevant information that will equip the young for survival can be imparted to said young by their parents during this stage. Just like most of the other animals on the planet.

If the parents don't know how to do this , then teach them, surprisingly learning how to be a parent starts in childhood ( Oh no , can't do that it's sexual stereotyping) . Governments should be around to lead and by bringing together resources provide infrastructure for society, they are NOT for controlling every last detail of people's lives, so tell Andy to either help parents to parent , or fuck off and mind the business of his own family

Bear huntin' Ballot Bimbo

Is Alaska another one of these States full of inbred banjo playing pig f$ckers?

That may explain how she was voted in as Governor and why she is so incredibly dim. Still, for those that regard Palin as a Milf, there is no having to worry about talking afterwards, at least not in any meaningful way!

Just one other thought is it legal for an American president to nuke a bear because it's tipping out your dustbins?

@ AC

Exactly right Mr Ac, If governments' security experts aren't dummies, then who is it ignored warnings leading up to 9/11? Who allowed the situation and protocols that make possible the loss of RAF, prison, NHS and social security documents to name but a few?

The dummies are out of the shop window and running the world and the customers don't seem able to stop them.

Virgin Galactic to save planet from climate change

Chris G

Banking crisis? What banking crisis?

Strangely, the banking crisis doesn't affect most of the world's population, as they are too poor to get involved with banks. However, the effects of climate change, whether it is global warming, global cooling or simply a bit of climactic musical chairs, affects everybody, particularly the third world but also the rest of us. We all have to eat and climate change is a threat to food supplies and drinking water. So sod the banks!

Security in Government

It seems that physical security in gov' departments is either nazis strutting around loaded down with ordinance or lardy arsed desk pilots who are there just for the job security( excuse the pun). In the case of `Cyber´security it is more likely to be the case that managers in many gov' departments have little knowledge or interest in the subject and so have no idea whether the IT security guy they are hiring is competent and doing his job or not. This is further complicated by poor remuneration in gov' IT . It's the same old thing time and again, lack of money and/or lack of professional HR managers and a lot of people who are in security jobs don't really know what they are doing.

MoD prays RAF disk thieves aren't data savvy

Chris G

It's just a ruse

Now that the entire of RAF personnel are compromised it would be sound common sense to disband the RAF and replace it with missiles and UAVs . Then the government can cancel the expensive carriers and use catapulted disposable UAVs thus reducing the Navy too.

Now, how do we compromise the Army to get rid of them as well, so that we can outsource British defence and use the money saved to make ID cards more complicated?

How an Italian judge made the internet illegal

Chris G

This is not a headline!

The Honourable `Made Men´of Sicily are still a force to be reckoned with and it is they who are in this instance using the law to proscribe a blogger who is against them. For any who wish to change the law, they may find it difficult as the mafia have over a hundred and twenty years of experience in controlling what the Italian government do or don't do in their favour.

Chris G

Wasn't me either! But

Surely Twatdanglement:- active verb. Or twatdanglementation:- thinking whilst dangling a twat is worth a couple of sleeves.

Or Twatdanglist:- a practitioner of twatdangling.

Twatdangleation:-As in `Twatdangleation in the upper teen demographic is reaching epidemic proportions.´

Twatdangleism:- A sentence with the term twatdangle in it.

Twatdangleosis:- A state of twatdangle

Twatdangleitis:- An inflamed twatdangle.

A couple of words more!

For Craig Gorsuch; Light being deflected around the sun or any other massive body is not about the `mass´of light ( which is zero) it is that light travels in a straight line in spacetime (geodesic the shortest route) , in the presence of a large gravitational field, space is distorted so light traveling through that distortion will appear to an observer to have been deflected, as far as the light is concerned it has done it's normal thing of traveling from A to B in the shortest route possible.

A question for you .Who or what is Satterfield/Norman I cannot find a reference.

Light is not entropic, it does not slow down with distance just as the Earth, if it was not in orbit around the sun and did not meet with any other influence would continue in a straight line through space at the same speed forever. It is Objects and gravitational fields that slow things down except light which can only travel at the speed of light .

As for various others, Philosophy and science occupy the same space; in the dictionary it says:-

Philosophy A belief ( or system of beliefs) accepted as authoratative by some group or school ( of thought)

The rational investigation of questions about existence, knowledge and ethics. I think science fits in there, don't you?

Theories are never proven they are supported by evidence and evolve according to the lights of new evidence from time to time.

God is possibly a theory but unsupported by any evidence other than hearsay.

But just in case he is listening. YOU ARE NOT DOING YOUR JOB! YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ALL MERCIFUL.

Daily Mail hacks get emergency bird flu jabs

H5N1 = Bird flu

So Lewis did mention it. Any way , whichever flu strain it is, I hope is has mutated to the point where it can live happily on the vaccine in the case of the Dreary Mail hacks. The last time I looked at a copy, it seemed to have been written for soap watching, big brother hopeful teens whose only other aspirations in life are to win the lottery and be famous(ly drunk). A sad paper which with a little luck could come to a sad end.

Chris G

@ amanfromMars

Loada silly sods!

But funny.

A little pedantic question; is this an Islamic skull & crossed swords? As the style of the swords appears quite Arabic as opposed to the traditional naval cutlass one would expect. Which had a full hand guard and a short, broad blade for swarthy cut throats to hack at each other with in the limited confines of a square rigger's deck.

Climate change blows out eco-boss's record bid

Chris G

Just another jet set hippie

The guy is a twat! Whilst wind can and undoubtedly will have an important part to play in supplying the national electricity needs of the UK, it will never reach 50% never mind being the main source.

Unless he knows something about climate change that nobody else knows.

Vegans are a weird lot and almost always have more than one axe to grind, perhaps he would like to stay in the outback and develop his windmills there. It would do us all a favour.

US runs warzone man-tracking 'Manhattan Project'

Chris G

Never mind the hardware

Implanting hardware into an individual is much less important than knowing which individual to target in the first place, so this suggests that the yanks are either just slotting a lot more suspects without worrying too much about hard evidence per individual ( shoot enough of them , sooner or later you get one that's important) or are using far better intelligence. If troop numbers have increased, it is almost certain that spook numbers have increased too, more spooks means more time to cultivate informers, with modern collating software it is easier to put together all the little odds and sods that point towards an interesting target, result ? BANG!

The hi-tech bit is more likely to be in analysis of intel, if you think about it, to get a decent signal from an inserted chip that is sufficiently continuous to track a guy through the wilds of Iraq and through buildings etc, it's going to need an antenna and batteries big enough to make him walk funny.
