The survey says the UK spent more on gadgets than any other country except for the US. This doesn't meant they bought more gadgets, just that they paid more for them. The UK is a rip-off for tech goods. On units sold I think we both know Japan and maybe China would come before the UK.
The day that a disk maker decides what data you can and cannot access or store on your drive is a sad day indeed. I'll be shouting and screaming to anyone that will listen to avoid buying Western Digital products, and as hardware procurement is a duty of mine at an IT firm of 40 people I'll certainly be doing my bit.
I'd be very interested to hear WD's take on this. It won't however effect my WD boycott/badmouthing campaign against them.
This article was published in a startup publication in Galway that has only been in existence for about 6 weeks, and is struggling badly with its circulation.
They obviously have a few tricks up their sleeve as regards publicity but it will inevitably fold, as the publication itself is embarrassingly bad. It's littered with spelling mistakes, horrendous grammar and shall we say "factual inaccuracies".
The appetite of the average Net user to believe stuff like this amazes me. The Borat movie is the obvious inspiration for this publicity stunt, but in this case the Joke is not on the "U.S and A" but the Net in general.
