Little choice in fast US ISPs

Michael Sheils

Neither do Brits

If we want speed we need to go Virgin, can't go then we are pretty much screwed.

Samsung, Google delay next-gen Nexus launch

Michael Sheils

It's because of Steve, and Apple not postponing is because they can make hay from his death and that is the only thing that matters to them, especially after such a poor reception for the new iPhone.

Best Buy tech finds 'child abuse' wallpaper on broken PC

Michael Sheils

Ok so...

He had an infection that was grabbing these images while at the same time he had his desktop background to cycle through his My Pictures folder. Any half-decent lawyer will get this dropped in a second but that isn't going to help the guy when people around where he lives find out.

Steve Jobs dubs Google's 'don't be evil' motto 'bulls**t'

Michael Sheils
Jobs Horns

Aww

Throwing his toys out of the pram because he knows he can't hold on to the smartphone market in the face of an open competitor?

He's probably also a little sore after the reception his latest creation received, and knowing full well that many Android powered devices will be breathing down the Pad's neck with better specs, prices and versatility.

O2 and Be Broadband speeds dip

Michael Sheils
WTF?

Odd

Since the beginning of December I've noticed a steady increase in our home lines effective speed by about 500k depending on the time of day.

Why the constant google hate?

When every other big organisation with multiple websites does the EXACT same thing with their log-in ID's.

Intel playing virtual silly buggers

Michael Sheils
Stop

Key Feature?

Not for consumers it isn't as all of there software would have been made Vista compatible years ago, the ONLY people for who XP Mode will be useful is large institutions/companies with legacy software to run.

Intel always save cash on their chips by butting good shit from everything except the top line of a family and then selling all of their chips as if they all had the features.

Is that all it takes to make an el reg article these days?

One forum poster is a bit pissed off for not getting more toys to play with so the reg rasies the alarm bells.

If this is all it takes for you towrite up a story then you should make one about my disgust in EA for not listening to my concerns for Battlefield Heroes since they have seen fit to not give me a beta key yet.

Michael Sheils

These chips are looking very good

Especially since it seems even the i7 920 will overclock to 4ghz without any trouble, all I need now is for some cheap X58 boards to come out as there is no way I'm paying £280 for one as well as a triple channel DDR3 kit.

Firefox 3 downloads hit 7m despite server FAIL

Michael Sheils
Thumb Down

RE: El Reg bias up to the extreme, eh!

I think the use of 'despite' was fine, they were simply meaning if the servers has coped imagine how many downloads could have been registered. Why do you seem to think that Mozilla deserves such praise for this epic fail of a PR stunt?

Cell-based GPU zaps laptop batteries, admits Toshiba

Michael Sheils
Stop

So this thing literally has no point.

You still need a graphics chipset separate from the Cell chip and yet the job the cel chip is meant to do (playback HD content) current AMD chipsets can do just as good a job at and they will work while on battery power.

Is there any point to having this thing in your laptop?
