The teen Bill Gates has answers to the AI-pocalypse the 70-year-old Gates has forgotten

The models that ate themselves

Presented as Gates does, it's like the asteroid mining thing (we fund their mining because they contain rare metals, which then become common; the price collapses and it's no longer economic). If huge numbers are out of work (which tbh I doubt, but anyway), who will buy all the services and stuff that keeps the economy ticking over? UBI will only go so far (though I'm looking forward to getting some cool kneepads).

I'm with Adama tbh. Keep em in their boxes doing useful stuff. And branch tf out from using gigantic LLMs for every ML application. That's how it'll go in the end anyway. Especially once use is charged at cost.

Gates warns society faces an AI-pocalypse unless we get more socialist
