Theoretically yes. you clearly have not experienced UK healthcare in practice. 13 hours waiting in a A&E alongside the drunks and drug addled before you are seen and then lying on a trolley in a corridor for more then 24 hours because thee are no hospital beds, is a common experience. You have something similar in the USA - its the free clinics in impoverished areas of big cities I believe. As for general practice - ah yes I remember I once saw a GP - for barely 5 minutes. But it was a beautiful majestic thing I'll never forget... And as for getting a dental appointment............

indeed. successive UK governments have lamented an issue about getting people back into work in order stimulate growth but have placed every barrier and disincentive in the way of the retired to do so. I think I recall a while back a suggestion by one of them to alleviate the pension/tax barrier specifically for one group (doctors perhaps it was) but then heard nothing more about it. Not convinced he new boy knows what he is doing any better than the last half dozen did..
