HMRC highly likely not informed of new pension admin address for sending tax code changes
I've had a civil service pension for nearly 10 years. This is about the correct tax code not being applied by the new pension administrators, Capita Pension Solutions (as per recent correspondence) from 1 Dec 2025, when they took over the admin from MyCSP, leading to overpayment of tax.
In my experience, tax code queries are normally to do with it being incorrect and having to contact HMRC. This is the reverse of that. From the 1 Dec '25 when Capita Pension Solutions took over from MyCSP, in mine and many others' cases it's that the correct tax code has been sent by HMRC, but not applied to the pension advice - and is ongoing. Never had a problem with MyCSP, who always applied any new codes on time, for the forthcoming payment. But since Capita Pension Solutions took over the admin on 01/12/25, my amended tax code change from 27 Nov hasn't yet been applied. My HMRC account is up to date (with letters to confirm the change) whilst my pension advice isn't, showing old/incorrect tax code. On top of this, no-one on that useless helpline can help (if you are lucky to get through) & 2 portal messages ignored. It isn't an isolated problem, after going onto forums & social media, many have been affected with exactly the same issue. People have even written to their MPs as well, but to no avail.
It's possible Capita Pension Solutions hasn't yet got around to it. But I think it more likely the Cabinet Office, the Scheme Manager, hasn't informed HMRC of the new pension address code from MyCSP to Capita Pensions Solutions, The Cabinet Office certainly didn't inform CSPS members of the changeover on 01/12/25. We only knew about it when we were told to create a new account in order to access the new website.
This isn't about a website or portal issue. This is a basic function that sits outside of that. It's carried out by the HMRC who send a code digitally to the pension administrator. Tax code changes are probably going into a void as a result of poor communication on the highest level and will potentially affect many members. What a mess! It is an unusual, frustrating and very worrying situation and needs to be sorted asap.
