Money mules are REAL victims of phishing, says Microsoft iconoclast

Anonymous John

Controversial?

What else are they, but victims?

Scam emails where the scammer claims to be a small business having difficulty getting payments from foreign customers are common, and in need of local agents who will bank money and send it on via Western Union less a small commission. Something that too many people see as plausible. They aren't greedy, just in need of employment, especially in the present economic climate.

Actively cooled rocket primed for easy re-entry

Anonymous John

I said "some of". As they are committed to landing when using it as cooling, there's no possible risk in using reserves of air. And they'd likely be wearing space-suits for the descent.

Anonymous John

Well if it's ever used for a manned vehicle, you can use some of the air the crew have been breathing.

Antimatter asymmetry: new results bring solution closer

Anonymous John

Re: You should also bear in mind that anti-matter is routinely created

In very very very small quantities, and energetic enough to override gravitational effects. It is something that needs testing, And something CERN wants to do,

Anonymous John

This doesn't get us mch further, does it?

It just poses another question. Why do these mesons and their anti-particles decay differently?

I would be at all surprised if matter and anti-matter repel each other; something that CERN is looking for a way of testing. Gravity is an effect of matter distorting space. Suppose that anti-matter distorts space differently. And that the nature of the distortion caused by matter affects how anti-mesons decay.

Boy died after satnav fault delays ambulance

Anonymous John

Re: Did the delay cause the death?

The paramedic arrive in less than eight minutes according to the original Daily Mail version of the story.

There was also a GP present before the ambulance arrived, which seems odd to me. It doesn't seem to me that the delay made any difference. Rapid Response vehicles are used as they can reach the scene faster than a larger vehicle, and are well-equipped.
