I take computer security very seriously, that's why I don't use or recommend Microsoft Windows or programs to anyone that cares about their digital security.

If you have whitehats that find problems in software and then treat them badly, then anyone can expect those whitehats to either stop finding the bugs or go public about their treatment by the producer of the software they have found a bug in. As these producers of software can be large and powerful and deaf to individuals there's sometimes only one way of getting your message out about the treatment you have received, that is to embarrass the producer by releasing some interesting data that makes them sit up and take notice. Maybe then the software producers will wake up to the fact that these bug hunters are helping make software more secure and reliable.

PS It is a very rare day indeed that I down vote anyone and I haven't here either.

If - or it would appear to be when - the Atlantic Conveyor stops entirely, Europe and North America are likely to experience a Little Ice Age. Do your research - it happened a few centuries back. The Thames in London froze so hard there were fairs held on the ice. Humans managed to survive the long cold winters and short summers (food anyone?), how will the of people in Europe and N. American get on in a mini ice age that lasts a century or three? I very much doubt our current systems can cope with years of super cold weather and very short growing seasons.

I've said, and I suspect others have said, something will 'get us' - disease, meteorite, starvation, war, etc. The Earth will be fine, humans have been on it's face for an amazingly short period of Earth's existence (unless you're a true religious crazy, then the whole thing is only ~6000 years old). Earth will survive another few millennia, a few humans may survive too ...

Ford's main UK factory is in Dagenham, Essex, I like to think it was the Ian Dury song 'Clever Trevor' that may have given the name as Dury and The Blockheads used a lot of Essex references in their songs - Billericay Dickie, Plaistow Patricia (NSFW!) and others.

When describing the difference between Windows and Linux I would liken Windows to a 1950s/60s car. It required very regular maintenance to keep running, would overheat and come to a stop if you ran it a bit hard. Plus, you needed to drag a trailer around behind the car with anti-virus software to try and keep the car safe which then slowed it down.

Whereas Linux was a modern 2000's car - 10,000 miles between services (Windows car 6000 or less), was more secure by design and no trailer full of AV required making Linux faster in use.

So I don't have a specific vehicle in mind that 'is' Windows - for general horribleness the Austin Allegro perhaps (1973 - 1982) but there are many contenders - Lada, early Skoda, Dacia, Trabant!
