Site schools world+dog in browsing history pilfering

dave

Not really that impressed

I use IE8, and make no particular attempt to hide or clean my browsing history - granted, it contains a few references to Redtube, but as a 30 year old bloke, I'm not ashamed to admit to looking at the odd bit of porn.

This site identified a less-than-impressive two sites I'd visited - one was theirs (well, duh), and the other was badscience.net.

So where are all the others? I've visited hundreds since I last cleaned the history...

@Wiernicki

Yes, a deer can leap out 10 feet in front front of you. It may well get run over as a result. Stationary, stalled cars, however, tend *not* to jump out in front of anything; they are a large, obvious obstruction, and careful drivers may well find themselves able to avoid them. Your analogy is utterly without merit.

You note that you do not know about UK driving speeds. I humbly submit that this is one of many, many things about which you remain cheerfully ignorant, without letting it get in the way of your self-important ranting.

Take a hammer to your hard drive, shrieks Which?

eye injury through shrapnel?

I routinely have to get rid of drives - I use the hammer method not because of paranoia, but because it's quick, easy, and rather cathartic.

In general, a single good whack with a heavy hammer is enough to shatter the platter into a million glittery fragments, without producing much more than a dent in the external casing - you don't need to obliterate the entire drive...

Anyhow. Didn't the reg have an article about what amounted to ten grand's worth of vertical drill, intended to fulfil the same role?

Safety glasses, obviously...

BNP leaked list claims first victims

@Stew Wilson

oh, grow up, you contemptible tool.

I've voted Lib Dem every election since I was able to vote, have no time whatsoever for the BNP, and yet still fundamentally disagree with both the publication of the list, and the banning of individuals from certain jobs based upon legitimate political affiliation.

Much like some other commenters here, I can see past the inverse Daily Mail tub-thumpery and recognise a potential problem with all of this. The fact that you are clearly too thick to do the same does not make me a Nazi. Or anyone else, for that matter.

@AC

More half-baked nutjobbery from the lunatic brigade... The UK is an 'extremist fringe', is it? You have some very odd definitions.

I'm glad you're an ex-pat. Please stay that way - at least if you're elsewhere, your lonely journey down the road of insanity will end up draining someone else's coffers.

Windows Vista has been battered, says Wall Street fan

dave

@bed edwards

given that my job involves fixing various forms of Windows, I can assure you that Vista is indeed less stable, and much more annoying, than XP.

The fact that you, personally, have had no problems establishes nothing. Your sample size (one) is statistically insignificant.

@Mark

You seem to be completely ignoring the fact that this chap was *already* a repeat offender.

I'm not sure anyone here is actually advocating the vigilante slaying of various scumbags - those suggesting otherwise are indulging in straw-man arguments.

How much one really cares in this particular instance is down to the individual. Personally, I don't; I neither condone his killing, nor mourn his loss.

Beer set to hit four quid a pint

dave

Thatchers cider FTW!

Not tried it? About five and a half quid a gallon (or 1.70/pint in pubs), around six percent, and quite tasty.

Much as I like beer, it became too expensive some time back (2.70 on average, around here).

Re homebrew - it generally takes like arse. Unless you can be bothered making your own mash, etc...

2.5" USB HDDs are useful primarily because you can plug them into more-or-less any old machine, and have oodles of lovely data at your disposal.

How does your fw800 connection compare on that front? What point in a portable hard-drive that you can only really use on your home PC?

Oh my god, they killed alKenny!

Really, provided they were enemy combatants rather than unfortunate civilians, I can't why this should be a problem - we are in a definite state of conflict.

If you imagine that these were all peace-loving innocents, callously destroyed by the decadent West, you are, quite simply, pants-on-head retarded. The Taliban's extreme barbarity is not really a point in question.

I have no problem with fun being poked in the direction of their demise.

For just a little bit more money, you can get a vastly superior laptop, or a mildly inferior PDA. Either has advantages that pale this silly novely into insignificance.
