I find it very difficult to fathom how people are given choices on things they clearly do not understand. Passports, touched buy the hand of His Majesty, should be the reserve of those who merit them. (We privileged few.) Not for the rabble!
A visa is attached to your passport. Either physically or electronically. There are many countries were it is, as a visitor, compulsory to carry your passport.
We have the privileged of holding His Majesty's passports, which gives access to many visa free/waiver agreements worldwide. (Even for the plebs, would you believe!)
But that does not remove the requirement to carry that passport with you.
