Windows 7 lives! How to keep your favorite fossil running

Re: What is dead may never die

Thanks for the tip on this utility. Perhaps you or one of the people on this threat can help out, as I try to install this tool and Windows 7 just won't allow it to install. I keep getting an error saying it is invalid or something like that, and I'm not sure if Microsoft Security Essentials is interfering with it. I tried to disabling real time protection and also excluding the EXE file but still it will not install.

Has anyone come across this?

Why is Big Tech hellbent on making AI opt-out?

lv426_dallas

I'm starting to notice more family and friends discreetly using ChatGPT. I have one friend in particular who talks like the techno expert, but is challenged with the most basic things using a to-do or calendar app to track reminders as such. The other day they were talking about a topic trying to sound very authoritative on, and the information forward to me were simple screenshots of ChatGPT responses.

I can only imagine the number of people out there who are passing off the "work" of these AI services as their own, sort of like those who plagiarize without giving credit.

How the OS/2 flop went on to shape modern software

Great article and comments

This was a great article, and I always appreciate a fresh new story regarding OS/2 history! I especially enjoyed reading the many comments and various viewpoints from all the participants here. Some got good up votes while others not as much. However, one thing is clear to me, and that is most of the people here have a very vast knowledge of these old systems which is nice to see.

As I read through all these excellent comments, it really makes you appreciate the value of human experience and contribution to a topic like this. I say this because of the current world we are living in, with the rise in artificial intelligence and ChatGPT. Reading through all these comments and the accumulated knowledge from all the real world people and their experiences, make sure you realize that this is a perfect example of something very unique that artificial intelligence will never be able to duplicate or replace.

So kudos and thanks to everyone.
