I recall from the news that someone had problems getting into one of the above stores due to facial recognition
So not completely flawless
As I mentioned earlier, I do get it. Bigger issue is the police not doing anything against shop lifitng and the supposed "not checking if less than £100" (or whatever figure it is)
When you go to your "sainsbury's local" to go and get some gabric conditioner and find it is no longer on the shelves and out back as it keeps getting nicked so you have to ask
I get it with some of the meats - again now out back, but fabric conditioner - I was left open mouthed (but with soft clothes)
Not so much the lack of staff and too much self service, it is just they come in grab and go. However, as they all have security and stll come in and nick, makes me wonder what the "security" guards are guarding...

*May look at just a data only SIM, but they cost more than a standard SIM, and android really does not like working on a phone device if the phone and SMS apps are removed
Years ago I worked for a company who were pushing everyone down the Thinclient route. They went down the UN Wyse terminals that cost a fortune and we often had to reflash.
I had suggested at the time that we run whatever linux version was around with the linux Citrix client.... nope, wanted Wyse terminals and so all the cost associated when it was not required.
Looking at this, so many fall under category 1 there would hardly be anything left to look at,

Same with the sat nav. Got to really turn and look away from the road. Heads up is good until you wear polarised sun glasses and then it is impossible to see.
Prefer to have a phone with navigation at the bottom right of the windscreen. Easy to see the nav and road. Only thing is the cars touchscreen is so much larger and useful vs phone screen
Motorbikes changed the side of brake and gears.
Bit confusing when you get an old bike that has that arrangement.
I also find that they should set a standard width of pedal. Going into a Yaris I often find I catch the brake with the accelerator - not in other cars I have access to

Dieselgate. I got a diesel as it was deemed to be good, blah blah. I chose it for a few reasons. i would not bother with the claims, but after Khange and the ULEZ and having to get rid of a perfectly good car as I chose diesel (because of the legistlation at the time), then I may as well have ago. I do think that the car companies are to blame as they *HID* what they were doing, but anyone who looks at cars knows the WLTP figures are fantasy. Plus I should have guessed that the gvt would screw diesel over again as they did it years ago in one budget where the tax relief was removed and diesel went from being cheap to most expensive that petrol. with these, you have got to have signed up to be part of the claim, even if you get £10. No part of a claim, then probably nothing doing for you
Car loans - It is down to you to read and understand. some of the original claimants could not get a loan for the car but a dealer would give you one at an inflated price. Probably tells you something*. Others like the one whose claim was upheld, 55% commission.. Nice littler earner and is under DCA's that were banned
Next will be the CC's that charge ridiculous amounts of interest (seen one on TV at over 1000%)
For those that signed up, could get interesting. May have to pay the ambulance chasers for nothing (worst case), or if you are one that is a DCA claim so in line for that £950, you may lose that to the ambulance chasers instead
Personally, I hunt around to get the best deal for what I need/want. Be it CC and a transfer in a few months, taking out a loan way larger than I need to get the lower interest rates and payback the amount I do not need immediately.
* if you have never had debt or a Credit Card, you can struggle to get a loan. I found this to my cost when I was young. I was always taught to save and buy when you had the money. first time I needed more I went and asked and got next to nothing. Pleaded my case - no loans, no CC's, no phone and was told that *IS* the problem. No credit score.
I download tools, I try them within their trial period or with whatever functions are disabled and if they do what I want I will purchase or contribute - whatever method is there
If I do not use beyond the trial I see no reason to pay for it and this is what this article is saying that if you use the Extension pack and have removed it you could still be hassled.

Bloody hell. I thought we were a high usage household here with the kids and grand daughter with all the washing and tumble drying they did. 2 x fridge freeze and my kit (laptops and and always on server), our son and his kit - multi laptop and screens too, 2 x electric car and we only get to juse over 1,100 Kwh during winter. Now it is summer and kids are gone, we are just over 500.
What do you run to get 2800 let alone 7000Kwh per month. I cannot see a heat pump making that much difference
Exactly Liam's point. Most people only do the basics in a car and no idea of a lot of the features
All they want from a device is to get on and surf.
In a car they don't care if it is manual, a slush of, CVT or all electric, select a gear or put it into D and go

I have found that is the best way.

If something else hits the fan in the future and you say "It wasn't me" or "I did this within the last x", people are more likely to believe you and can check what you did instead of random guessing of the cause
Previous owner her team armoured cable from the main CU to the one in my office (which then feeds the outbuilding via another good length)
While we were doing other place up and I got to me office, I thought I'd replace that armoured cable (it is mostly in trucking) to make it a little neater at where the corners are tight and the armoured cable is visible. Only need 10m
Then I saw the cost of 10mm cable..... Armoured cable doing a fine job
I did get 25m of cat 6 at what I thought was a decent price though

years and years ago, a colleague and I developed on the fastest desktops we had - whheeeee
Out main test desktop was an old, ancient no longer used, well underspec unit. We made sure it ran fast on that before passing to users
Even now with SaaS etc. At one point at a client we tested the mobile app on a crap mobile with limited screen size and data transfer speed. We optimised where we could, we compressed where we could. It can be done, just not often. Dekstop users at that client loved it
