UK to rethink tech buying after Palantir contracts

harrys Bronze badge

Re: Out of the frying pan.....

"those in post are either extraordinarily dedicated public servants, or people who cannot get employment in the most rapidly expanding sector of the economy"

This situation has simply occured because needed recessionary periods have been kicked down the road by artifically increasing assett prices to compensate, especially house prices, which is a double wammy in this regard to the needs/expectations of the "clever people"

Recessions are so needed on a cyclic frequency (the periods can be argued about) so that there is a rush to safer public posts forcing out the lower quality cohort of waste/indolence, hopefully whilst retaining the dedicated staff

Luckily only human hubris think recession can be avoided

"the times they are a changin", those that can adapt well.......

Iran's cyberattack against med tech firm is 'just the beginning'

harrys Bronze badge

Sadly this was needed

Why, because necessity will dictate that in the security verses cost equation, only now will the former start winning by default

Another probable consequence, next gen overlay vpn's fully transparent to the end user, baked into the OS's network stack, will start decentralizing the gubbins of the internet into distinct geographical/political/corporate areas, especially as the percentage of global trade decreases over time between said areas ... (aka decentralized "firewalls")

whats probably surprising is that its taken so long to mature, or putting it another way finally out of the hands of emotionally challenged monied geeks on the "spectrum"

Re: This

I dont think its easily fixed, until you get a deep recession you wont get good peoples going into these jobs (out of sheer neccessity) to make this happen in a competent way (they'll be plenty of peoples writing the reports on how to achieve it though charging silly consultancy fees)

In the mean time out of sheer necessity, shitheads like g4s are just needed to stave off collapse of the system

It will happen once assett prices start declining, especially the stupid rise in house prices since the thatcher/regan experiment began, sadly were all complicit here, how many were out there demonstrating against it?

harrys Bronze badge

this happens because in larger companies

peoples these days see work as a lifestyle not a shite necessary activity

the clever ones know this and just pretend to be part of the "work family"

the foolish ones actually believe its true

in reality no one should trust anyone in the workplace and put in adequate systems, whilst trying to hide this fact from the fools without upsetting them too much.
