I worked on a Project for Greater Glasgow and Clyde 2 years ago which as part of it did this. as well as introducing scanning centres around sites do that paperwork (all of which had its own qr code and a qr code for each patient's ID number) all new data would be scanned and sorted on a Rhapsody server before being made available in a clinical portal. for records held offsite the following happened:
documents have a shelf-life of x years, if they are recalled before x, scan them verify them and destroy the originals, if not wait till x scan and destroy.
what interests me is that GGC is the biggest site in the UK and we did the project in a year for about 1/7th the cost
beat me to it! only way id go into a 24 month would be if i can swap my phone after 12 asin free upgrade. not a chance im sticking with one phone more than 18 months ( i find that can be pushing it). maybe its just my experience but after 12 months phones see a sudden decline in quality they being to break, crash etc for no reason and nothing seems to fix them! screw that for 2 years!
thats why intel developed the MCA standard. any device that follows it must be sealed, infection proof and have a handle for easy carying. as part of our deployment all devices are cleaned before being returned to a charging dock (which can be connected to a monitor keyboard etc.
and in terms of radios. yea it is abit of rubbish, Dr's have used pagers and mobiles for years in wards, doesnt really cause any problems. the new official line in alot of places is that no phones means less disruption to sick patients etc! hell we have wifi in most of the hospitals here.
and again this is nothing to do with the old NHS lol!
we use these accross several sites for Electronic data capture in ward areas they also look alot better than the "tough books" and the new C5V has much better specs than the old ones. Doubt Ipads will take off
also @Richard 81:
"Also, if they were to start using tablets, shouldn't they have a slot for those NHS access cards?"
no, you can get them on most MCA based devises. BUT! i wouldnt really call it a secure login, as cards can be stolen and dupped. we use a mix of encryption software and AD authentication.
Fair enough infrastructure should be paid for by ALL the providers! a set % a year of profit should go on developing infrastructure and that's across the board. but how come Virgin Media are allowed to hold onto their monopoly of cable? not really fair is it? I agree it should be nationalized, but be payed for by the providers, then they all get a share of it! that would allow competition
Some bits I agree some I don’t.
My Degree was abit watered down which is a terrible shame consider the amount of money I paid for it, It wasn't technical enough and thus left a lot of my fellow Graduates Frustrated at the lack of education compared to the costs! I agree too many people go to uni and do stupid degrees; one of my mates did "American Studies" which he admits is totally micky mouse. But ramping up costs isn’t really an answer is it. Its a recession people cant really afford things, expecting people to chuck money towards degree's isn’t going to happen. Maybe the answer is simply to make degrees more worth while by improving the value of the teaching, and/or make hybrid courses that allow you to study Industry certifications as part of the degree (eg. computing studies with an MCSA/E). Also for a lot of courses I ensure there are placements as It’s incredibly important to gain practical skills. However I wouldn’t charge 1/2the cost of a years tuition for this (as in my case my tutor came out twice for a total of 1 hour the university took 700quid, students the year after were meant to pay roughly 1500 for this which explains why 90% skipped the placement year
what a crap deal, Im with 02 I got an n86 free of charge, £30 a month tariff that's unlimited(yes actually unlimited) web, 900 mins and 1200 texts! oh and this is after o2 tightened their belts on offers. Hopefully they will take Oranges deals when they merge as they have always been better than T-mobiles.
I work for another NHS area, all our mobile devices are encrypted (albeit with Mccrapy safeboot) and anyone requiring portable storage gets an encrypted USB drive, we also use data loss prevention software that only allowed encrypted drives (and anything else we allow) to be plugged into other USB ports, not hard is it?
you know if all this was happening along side news like " Sony BMG in administration, Warner music shutting down simon cowel sells his house to live in a trailor, JLO so poor she has to eat super noodles for every meal" I might give a F**K but they are making crap loads of money still its stupid. they need to adapt. all the law suits and paying for morons to sit in meetings and hammer out anti pirate procedures is costing even more money! also that Zillllllllionnnnnnn dollars/pounds/euros/yen or whatever they claim to lose each year to piracy is known by everyone to be complete rubbish! why why why dont people put them in there place?
the Gov get worse everyday! They increase the tax on everything and expect everyone who is struggling through the recession to be happy : "oh Vat is back up, oh my shopping costs more, my fuel costs more, things i enjoy like going to the pub costs more, oh ive been made redundant, oh now im being charged more on my phone, etc etc etc". they are idiots! they also think the min wage is a livable wage, yet when people go no it isn't they then fork out for benefits. instead of raising the wage, thus giving people a better quality of life, increasing public spending while decreasing government outgoings!
I think your country would be abit f***ed off to find out it no longer had missile sites on the uk, no longer had military support and no longer benefited from economic cooperation from the UK. also lets be honest. your an idiot! nuff said?
Dont like it? petition your government to sever all ties with me!
...and im sure someone will correct me if im wrong. he had some software which scanned subnets for systems that had no Administrator password set. he found several on the us mil domains and jumped into these machines. he has claimed that when he got into nasa's system he did find evidence of ufo's. if i recall he also had a conversation with someone at the pentagon and had to pretend he was tech support fixing an issue on the machine. to be honest i really dont see how he caused any damage. its the us govs fault for not securing stuff. i compare this to the new regulation on the bankers code that state " if you dont have a decent firewall anti virus software and anti spyware and you get frauded its your own fault" and thus the same with someone poking around your network!
if you pay 1.08p per litre you are a lucky bugger! anyway yes its a scam scrap this fair usasage shit. just give a limit or no limit. ie: "new X broadband a thearetical maximum of 8mb/s and a max download of 40gb a month. for more information and to see what speed you can get please contact us."
people seem to forget that crude oil isnt just used for fuel alot of others things come from it aswell like plastics, waxes, etc simple solution is to actually plow money into non poluting car projects but of cause that would be silly because i forgot the big oil and car companies control the world! *cough* who killed the eletric car *cough*
