I pretty much use ChatGPT like a giant search engine to find answers without having to spend hours and hours digging on the internet. When trying to get it to create complete content, I always run into the same thing you mentioned - I give it specific directives on how something must be done, and it completely disregards them.

If you know how to work with them, LLMs can be a tool to help figure out how to do something, but at this point, they're not going to do it for you and if they do it's not going to be good quality, if it works at all.

But it still works!

Much like the Task Manager he built, despite it's age the fact that it still works this many years after it was built, and in fact works better than many newer utilities, shows how sometimes simple just make it work and do what needs done is the best way. If it didn't work well, someone would have replaced it, but since it works even if it isn't pretty by today's standards, no one feels the need to redo it.

Re: Linus being shouty is not really news

I've heard that getting yelled at by Linus is considered a badge of honor - and it means whatever you're working on is important enough for him to take note.

That being said, as Linus himself said, making personal attacks on someone is never ok no matter how heated the discussion gets.
