RIP: Software design pioneer and Pascal creator Niklaus Wirth

Big loss to the IT community!

I didn't know much at all about the creator, really enjoyed the article.

Fond memories of learning Pascal as a teenager, per another Reg commenter above it was my second language after Basic. Later I did a bit of Pascal at Uni then used Delphi in the workplace for some COM programming. I think if the Microsoft juggernaut hadn't pushed Visual Basic so hard Delphi may have been very popular as it was far superior language in terms of ease of understanding, performance, OO support and libraries.
