Ridiculous reg post
This is like buying a car then bleating you can't fit 6 wheels on it, and it's not fair, or the car isn't fit for purpose...
Come on TheReg, you can do better then churn out this drivel.

Windows is used by most people - google that stat, it's not too hard to find.
Until Linux can run people's software that they are used to, Linux is never going to break the desktop market. Partially running a few programs won't make people switch.
For example, of the 80+ games I have paid for in Steam, less than 12 run on Linux. Want to run Scrivener on Linux - you can't. Please don't lecture on how Linux can do it all, it can't.
*sigh*
I nearly ordered a Raspberry Pi 5 recently. However when you add in the extras like HDMI lead, official power supply, cooling fan, case, it's actually cheaper to buy a i5 Optiplex with 16GB and SSD from eBay for £60. And it'll easily out perform a Pi.
Seems like PI pricing is going a bit pricey for what it is.

Totally this.
The majority of computer users in the world don't give a rat's arse about Linux, Debian, BSD or anything 'computery'. They just want a device that they can do social media and shoppping on. Only arrogant computer snobs who are out of touch with reality care...
