Fine for a new Outlook which has bits and pieces from the Windows 95 Exchange and Schedule+ clients. But can it please be a real RibbonUX application and not some sort of pretend affair?

According to the US BLS, office and administrative support occupations make up nearly 16 percent of U.S. employment as of May 2013. Imagine the brain surgeon, auto technician, construction worker, mass transit operator, site support personnel, not to mention retail and education, complaining about their employer’s work from home policies. Hilarious. We’re an entitled lot.
WordPad always meant to be a demonstration of what you could create with the Win32 API. That does not mean anything to modern developers so of course it will go away. The *cough* Microsoft *cough* Store has a number nominally free markdown editors, such as Appy Text. Also, OneNote can used for text of any sorts and it is also free. And as other have noted, LibreOffice, FreeOffice, and other will let you type for free. Finally, use the winget search parameter and look for ‘markdown’.
