SInce the merger, nothing has been the same

THis sort of office surveillance will do nothing to help restore the trust between management and workers that has been destroyed by the varous CEOs that have been in place since the merger.

Also, when data is collected it can and will be abused.

Why I like my Mac Mini

"A successful exploit could potentially allow an attacker to take photos using a device's camera, record audio from its microphone, disclose the user's location, and more."

My mini has no microphone hooked up (is there a secret one in the hardware?), and there is no camera.

Re: Dissent is not the same as lies

Indeed. In how many countries is it illegal to say something bad about the leader? Saying "Xijinping sucks" would probably get you arrested in the PRC

Is the Navy using Agile techniques?

The design of the new frigate certainly appears to be using agile techniques, it's now three years late already. They began building before many of the decisions were made.

Microsoft really does not want Windows 11 running on ancient PCs

Re: Alternative

How many of those people who know Windows and know Office have had to retrain themselves over the years when Microsoft made a bunch of changes to the functionality of their software. Oh that menu pulldown that I use all the time is now three layers deep. etc. etc.

" Sadly, Apple aren't immune form this."

Apple's software quality has been dropping. I attribute it to the marketing whizzes demand that they come out with a new OS version every year. Some stuff seems to come out half baked. Perhaps not enough time is spent on testing/

IBM did this for years

Often, production economics compel that multiple models in a range have the same core circuitry from entry-level to executive.

This was the basis for IBM's system 360. You bought an upgrade and the service person came in and flipped a switch on the inside, and voila 2x computing power.

Social media is too much for most of us to handle

Just think what this does to the developing brains of children and adolescents.

If as has been suggested that the human brain does not finish developing until the age of 25, what effect will it have on those brains?

US sanctions cut Huawei profits by half in first quarter

Del Varner

"Huawei is a private company ..." Ha Ha Ha Ha. ALL CHINESE companies must do the bidding of the CCP. The PRC is essentially a fascist state (look up the definition). I do not feel bad that they are doing badly.
