Re: MTG does not decode

I did see her say that some of the QAnon conspiracy things she'd see on the internet were wrong - https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/marjorie-taylor-greene-qanon-internet-quote/

So even she had to admit a some of the things she'd read and ran with were batshit. Absolutely no excuse for it if she had any sort of intelligence - which she obviously doesn't.

Re: MTG does not decode

I've upvoted you Pascal, tho is Marge the Bounty Hunter really adept at bullshit? Perhaps the down votes are from people that don't think she's adept at bullshitting. She is definitely batshit crazy with her conspiracy theories and may walk back some of the madder ones when she realizes they are totally crazy.

EVs don't have a dirty old engine in the front so you get a small amount of storage space under the bonnet/hood. Call it a front trunk or front boot - frunk or froot.

Frunk or froot?

US = front trunk

UK = front boot

Personally I like froot better than frunk as in the UK we rarely say trunk for the back luggage area of a car.

"You are an habitual criminal, who accepts arrest as an occupational hazard, and presumably accepts imprisonment in the same casual manner. We therefore feel constrained to commit you to the maximum term allowed for these offences; you will go to prison for five years."

. . . making Windows Search work properly

I remember that animated dog in Win98 (or was it XP?), I also remember saying to people that if MS had spent more time on getting search to work properly instead of that crappy dog things would be a lot better. That dog might have been there to distract us from the POS that searching in Windows was. 20+ years and search on Windows is still crap - not that know or care these days.

I pretty much gave up using Windows after XP, played with Vista and 7 but by that time I was using Linux* nearly all the time.

Re: You can trust me ...

Rudy, or anyone else with the files from 'the laptop from hell' could have put them somewhere and pointed us to them but they have nothing, just 'a lot of theories', no real evidence. If there was we would know about it. The 'internet' (Facebook, or was it Twitter?) hid the Hunter laptop references for 24 hours - and still Trump lost. He would have lost in 2016 if it hadn't been for his election interference re. 'crooked' Hilary's email problem. If you turn Trump's words around 180 degrees that's a more accurate view. A good proportion of politicians are not so good (for whatever reason), but Trump is not a politician, he's just a snake oil salesman BSer. I wonder if he's able to hypnotise people, there has to be some reason his supporters can't see through the BS he spouts.

I love that footage of Trump and Epstein at some club or other checking out the talent. In my mind there's no doubt Trump is coked up or something.

Re: Windows isn’t needed for all home use any more

"While I abandoned Windows years ago *because I can* I’ve never pushed Linux onto anyone unless they demonstrated a certain technical prowess."

I too abandoned Windows years ago but I have pushed people on to Linux - dozens of them. Just one has been a refusenik - I no longer service his system.

Most of my converts are grannies and grandads with zero to no technical prowess - Mint just works. Two people do have very occasional printer problems. Some people call and worry why nothing has gone wrong with their laptop or PC and ask if I'll go round and give it a look over (yearly service?). All I'll usually do is clear out some old kernel files so it looks like I'm doing something :-)

Re: Advert

I agree, printing can be a bit odd with Mint or is it a cups thing or something. I have a couple of dozen customers using Linux Mint - home and small businesses, some on pretty old hardware (my main system must be 8+ years old), two of them have the occasional printing hiccup (HP, Brother & Epson printers). Windows never has printing hiccups :)

But does Mint crash? Flaky to me means crashy and rarely - if ever - do I have, or hear about, a system locking up or rebooting on its own volition. Updates also don't cause problems like on Windows.

Only if your ThinkCentres and Brother printers have sequential serial numbers can you even be reasonably sure that all the components are identical.

I'm sitting on one now. For me it works as it keeps my gut 'open', I have less of a bend than sitting in a normal chair. I suffer from Crohn's Disease and rather than being bent over a desk I sit more upright and am much more comfortable for it. My 'back' chair, 'backless' chair, kneeling chair, whatever you want to call it has been with me since the mid-eighties, adjust it right and you barely know you've been sitting down all day. Google veep calls out Microsoft's cloud software licensing 'tax'

Vincent van Gopher

Break it up

Microsoft should be encouraged or forced (probably forced) to spin off the various parts of their enterprise in to separate entities. eg. OS, Office and other software, cloud, games, hardware, etc. etc. Until that happens MS have far too much clout over other vendors.

A golden opportunity to do this was missed when MS was convicted of being a monopolist - it's never too late.
