Cloud services

The future is in integrating cloud services and Azure is a pretty good one, minus a few things here and there. I think that MS is well poised for the future of cloud computing, Windows 7 natively supports a good number of useful, new features in Azure. Not to bash other companies, but aside from Google, MS is the only major player with their own end-to-end model for the cloud; from OS to platform(.NET) to languages(C#) to development IDE(Visual Studio) to SSO(LiveID=OpenID), etc. And Google is even lagging behind on some of those ideas at that.

I just can't see this as a huge issue. It's the nature of the world(especially technology in general) to ebb and flow, and with nearly $30b, MS can ebb for quite some time. If I had any suggestions for MS it would be to port Windows 7 to ARM architecture, I think Intel is who should be watching out as ARM runs more machines in this world than any other CPU.

AMD records 11th straight loss

AMD started with a foot in the grave....

before they seriously applied pressure to Intel circa 2000 with Athlon CPUs. If not for competition from AMD, we would probably be reaching the 1GHz range with x86 just now, and there would be no x64 as we know it today.

I for one have had very little issues with AMD-based systems. They are rock solid and, in the past, had been a serious contender to Intel dominance. Here's to hoping that a slimmer, trimmer, fab-less AMD will return to the ring with an ultra-low power, mobile, CPU/chipset a la Tegra.

For most people today, the allure of personal computers is really due to the Internet; Facebook, twitter, etc all run in a browser, therefore the vast majority of future computing will be on line. Although a driving innovative force, the super power desktops of today will be a niche market for most manufacturers going forward. The all-in-one netbook/smartbook/net-top market is the real battleground and even ARM is going to have a go at it, so don't count AMD out just yet.

Windows 7 prepped for August 6 release

It's not ready, seriously.

Been using every build up to 7600 so far. It's still not ready. Hibernation and sleep issues persist, as well as multiple monitor issues. There are also Wifi issues, but it's sure to be related to sleep issue. WMP, resource sharing and the new Libraries feature are all still wonky at times, in fact, there are just still too many problems to list out.

I fear they will still have a bit of a headache with this one, although I don't suspect it will be as bad as Vista at launch. Tired of Linux, tired of UNIX, tired of Windows. Where is a real OS alternative?

we run vista on a corporate domain as well and even with many apps loading at login as well as scripts and a/v updates, it may take 3-4 mins tops to get to my desktop and the drive to stop thrashing. seriously, your dns is whacked or your vista workstations may have various crap that is not necessary.

i for one have found that TPM and various applications for accessing TPM dont work well at all for vista and should not be used unless absolutely necessary. it was the magic bullet for our current dell gear. instead we use ipsec vpn clients and all data is secured on network and doesnt leave on laptops, which has the added benefit of being properly and frequently backed up. now our workstations run smoothly.

the moral is to learn to tune your workstations, this goes for any version of windows. turn off unwanted services, make sure your services dependencies are in order so that your timecard services start right after network services. otherwise you have other network issues to look into. learn group policies and ou planning to start with and your shit will boot and login like a champ, mine does...

ps: i cant believe this is even for real. those network admins need to be replaced.

I have no opinion on this matter as I have only heard about this just today. But i would like to point out something else.

I would like to hereby acknowledge the unequivocable run-on sentence contruction capabilities that heystoopid posesses. The mandatory exclaimation capping off every one is sure to drive the point home. This is no slouch we are dealing with here, these are some serious heavywieght-class jumbles he's got going on. David is almost there. With a few more single sentence paragraphs, I believe he would be a contender in no time at all...

I know the title sounds like the name of a new wave revival band, but take me seriously here for a sec. Umm, I seem to doubt your statement John. The word 'an' is used only when the word immediately following it begins with a vowel. Now since I was in grammar school(pun intended indeed) they may have changed the letter H to a vowel, yet I somehow highly doubt it. Let me know if I am in err....

You missed quite a few actually. Every model of the iPod until the newest Nano and the touch model has been available in some shade of pink, some less saturated than others. I know this because I have seen them in my local Apple store(dont hate me for having actually been in one). Maybe your local Apple store has sold out of pink hence the absence of them from the shelves. Apple is very trendy and therefore many colors are replaced in every generation. This mostly ensures that you will want to buy another iPod and is why Apple rules at reselling the same item, slighly improved(or maybe just a new color) to the same sogging idiot time and time again. Make sure you know before you post again, and look the fool thrice.
