Re: Terrorists and Pedophiles and Violent Criminals (Oh My!)

"For decades, the Left have been fine with the judiciary handing down decisions they agreed with, and even managed to get chunks of their agenda implemented through the court's activist decisions"

TL;DR "When we do it it's responsible law, when they do it it's judicial activism."

Sadly the project to transform SCOTUS into a rubber stamp for corporate interests and the religious right dates back at least forty years.

Trump is both too late and too stupid to undertake that entire project himself.

Five Eyes intel chiefs warn China's IP theft program now at 'unprecedented' levels

Yeah Sure...

People who think nothing of intercepting net hardware, adding spy-tech components and sending them on their way are hardly the ones to be saying to the private sector," Patch your Sh*t."

Re: functionality

Both my son who is 20 and a friend/co-worker of mine have installed and are using Linux for themselves. My friend was/is a Windows user and my son has never used anything other than Chromebooks.

My friend is now using Blender and PrusaSlicer on a decade-old ThinkPad to run his 3D printer and my son is using his $200 bargain laptop to play retro games on Steam. Both required very minimal assistance from me, who has been using Linux every day since 2012.

Also, my wife's computer has been Linux since I bought it for her, first Kubuntu and now Debian with KDE Plasma. Loves it and has needed minimal help using it in almost three years. She is not tech savvy in any way.

Just because you lack any determination at all to learn something that isn't Windows doesn't scale to the rest of humanity.

Three signs that Wayland is becoming the favored way to get a GUI on Linux

As a user I actually like systemd and don't give a hoot in heel about how "UNIX-Like" it is. I also have zero issue with Wayland, other than i have yet to see it work consistently on Plasma. When it provides the same level of stability as X does then i am all in, but it still has issues.

I envy you, I am in fact distantly related to Laura Bush, wife of noted war criminal and Michelle-Obama-lozenge-passer George Dubya Bush.

This ain't Boeing very well: Starliner's first crewed flight canceled yet again

It's the same thing.

GE Av employee here, and IMO this process is already well along at GE as well. Wall $treet loves to transition engineering companies into finance companies, until it comes time to actually engineer something.

Trying a Trackball Optical sold me on thumb-operated trackballs, and I'm still using Logitechs many years later.

Re: That's what you get when you play the "We're the *safe* pair of hands" card

There's a long-held opinion of some in the American aerospace industry that Boeing began it's decline after their acquisition of McDonnell-Douglas, I heard one person describe it thus,

"Boeing changed from an engineering company into a corporate finance company that occasionally spits out an airplane."

I'm paraphrasing here, but I don't think that's far from the mark considering their much more deadly and public failures of late.
