I think we're talking about a distinction between strategy and tactics. Agile is a tactic. What i see at my workplace is a lot of energy being put into managing an agile process. I don't see the overall strategic goal, but then again i probably wouldn't.
I big problem with the agile workflow at my workplace is that its totally reactive to sales whims that change faster than the agile cadence. Again no visible strategy. The other thing i see is a lot of rookie software mistakes that might have been avoided with more time and supervision. There seem to be a lot of inexperienced coders in the world trying to get work done and checked off rather than done well.
