Unless they've built their facilities right next door or built a private grid then that's not how electricity works. All they have done is increase supply to match their increased demand. So it's an investment not a private power plant. Rooftop solar is direct. Building a power station is indirect supply

On the face of it standardized cables looks like a good idea. But surely the clue is in the name. USB is not and has not been a fixed form.

I imagine the project is a closed loop that uses the heat to turn water into steam that can then spin a regular old-fashioned gas turbine.

I'm not involved with IT (but I like some of the light hearted stuff from the Register.) What interests me is I have invested in Palantir so have them set as a Google Feed topic. The Reg is the only site that mentions them. So with the greatest will in the world most of this stuff is going on unnoticed by the general public

They (ocean clean-up) do also have interceptors that they deploy at polluting river mouths to cut off the flow to the patch
