I have a USB 3.0 device that will only ever reliably work if it's plugged into a USB 3.0 and only 3.0 controller. I have a couple of pcie usb 3.0 controllers for it.

The moment I use 3.1 or higher or any hub etc... the device will randomly lockup while in use.

Your next PC should be a desktop – maybe even this Chinese mini machine

Been using a NUC both at home and at work as my base desktop to do browsing etc... - the work one even drives a VM I might need from time to time. Both are AMD Ryzen 5 devices with plenty of RAM. So yeah these devices are great if you think about what you need from them.

Would I game on one? No not likely - but I do have a gaming desktop for that and a laptop to travel.

This is simply my turn it on, have atm 3 screens connected to it and do various stuff from browsing, chatting, watching, etc... on it.

Re: Totally not an issue!

Umm I have one of these - haven't installed it yet. But having read the security issues - you are not safe because you're using traccar or any other open source solution for this.

The issue is that they have a hardcoded password in the firmware on the device, that can be accessed by SMS, it's also apparently possible to fake the SMS originating from the controlling phone number. Sure some things are probably only an issue if using the original server.

So I would be careful. Now if someone has an open source firmware for them - I'd be all for that.
