Re: Fanbois relying on Cupertino's idiot-tax outfit
Shows what I know. Where is the Reg getting "idiot tax" from then?
"Apple's idiot tax"
Yes - so guess someone buying a BMW is paying an idiot tax etc. - maybe it's their choice?? Also when you consider TCO rather than just initial purchase price the 'tax' may actually be a 'rebate' - the original hardware purchase price is often a small part of the overall cost.
By all means insult Apple; they’re big enough to take it. Highlight the profit margins too - not a problem. But Cupertino Idiot Tax is an insult to the CUSTOMERS; that only idiots would buy Apple. So yes, I take that personally. And so should you, on your maxed-out 2007 MacBook - because according to this article’s author, you’re an idiot too.
> I think you are right, in the past you could get the same PC equivalent as a Mac for half the price, but these days the 'Idiot Tax' joke doesn't fit any more.
I disagree This thing rubs the Macbook Air's face in the dirt and is literally half the price.
iMacs are also stupidly expensive.
"Idiot Tax" was amusing at first but it's really really tired now. Ancient recycled old rubbish soon loses its comedy value and makes the writer look lazy.
Other banalities includes: "crysis", "popcorn", "goes up to 11", "rounded corners" and many more. I wonder if the people using these trites imagine that they are being witty and original when they put them into a comment.
And wonder what else has leaked from Cupertino's highly secretive idiot-tax operations.
Apple could not be reached for immediate comment. ®
Cupertino's highly secretive idiot-tax operations.
Apple could not be reached for immediate comment.
So, some poor El'Reg scribe calls Apple's operations idiot-tax and wonders why Cupertino fails to respond in time ...
Note, I think idiot-tax is both quite suitable and funny in this context, but to expect them to get back to you ? Hmmmm ... you could have at least tried to bury that in the article somewhere! Sad, just as you managed to break the ice, last few papers I read here about Apple they had actually gotten back with a comment ... now you are all back to square 1 ...

The people who buy Apple kit are all idiots then?
I buy and use Apple kit for many reasons but hardly ever new unless I'm in places that have no VAT/Sales Tax.
Over almost two decades I have had far fewer issues with it than with anything running software from Microsoft that I had to use for work.
But I given your all embracing description I really am an idiot and my PhD in Non-linear Control Engineering means nothing. Time to retire the idiot tax banner?
I much preferred Foxconn-reseller as a derogatory term myself.
This is just a temporary pause in hostilities.
Next week, the use of words like 'Cupertino tat seller' and 'Idiot Tax' will reappear.
Then we can breathe a sigh of relief as normal service is resumed.
After all (sic) who around here will admit to buying new stuff from the 'Fruity' company? /s
I buy used stuff but new? and pay the Idiot Tax? don't be silly.
I massively resent the idiot tax but thats why I pay it.
