I preferred *csh for a long time as My First Unix™ was Ultrix on a Vax where csh was standard, but ended up going down the sh/bash route because of problems I encountered scripting csh which seemed oddly finicky with whitespace. Well, that and My First Job involved SVR3 whose only BSDism/other feeling of modernity was vi: no csh for me, just sh and eventually ksh after I badgered my manager about it (it required actual money to be parted with back then), so by the time csh was back on the scene when Linux arrived a few years later I'd already become set in my ways. Er, at the ripe old age of 24...
