My (about 2yr old) LG machine has a specific button to toggle between loud/soft/off. It also has a very annoying series of tunes it plays when you turn it on, select a cycle, press a button, or turn it off. It sounds like a chiptune symphony every time I wash but I do need the sound, as the machine needs different lengths of time for different cycles and I can't be bothered to keep precise track of it all.
