Did something similar with a website review system at a certain phone directory company, but in my case it was a mess of VBA code that did it's best to stick together a wild array of office documents and analytics feeds. Saved £200k - £300k -ish of labour per year, my manager calculated at the time.
It was still there when I left.. it was even being rolled out to other products / teams.
