The Segway scooters are/were a neat idea that needed a lower price and more space to park. I see them as a great last mile bit of transportation to get from the train station to the office. What it would take is secure storage at the train station so you didn't need to take it on the train each day and secure storage at work/shops.
I have friends with them and after 5 minutes I was zipping around like I was born to it. Very intuitive. There are other applications where they work great and replace more cumbersome electric work carts/golf carts. As I get older, the less riding a bike or walking a long distance is an option. I would like to get an eBike at some point especially with petrol going through the roof again.
