Well.....at one large retail shop where I worked, the business side had a fantastic answer to the first two words....and an established process for handling their IT requirements. It worked like this:
1. We are fed up with IT (and external IT consultants) talking about "methodology", "agile" and so on.
2. Our senior business leaders went to a show, saw some demos and came back and bought a package. Yup....cash on the barrel head....we own the package.
3. Sorry, we forgot to involve IT.....see item #1.
4. But now we've told you folk in IT, you need to step up and INSTALL AND DELIVER the package. By the way, the vendor says it's easy, should only take a few weeks.
5. We've already started doing our user training.....
That's how one group of "demanding customers" got the "solutions" they were looking for!!
And the IT group was ALWAYS on the back foot. What does the Agile Manifesto have to say about that?
