Managed Farce

I resisted registering with the register so long but I've finally been Triggered. This particularly caught my eye: "As part of the deal, BT plans to combine Safe Security’s “SAFE platform” with its own managed security services to provide added protection for its customers in the UK against cyber threats."

I worked as a contractor for the BT department which provides "managed security services" about 10 years ago and there are not enough corn kernels in the house to deal with the inevitable outcome of this.

To set the stage, my induction included strong emphasis on rule 1 being You Do Not Talk About Working For BT Security, followed by lunch walking through town with the chief engineer (!) declaiming at volume each of the high street brands he was responsible for the security of.

This is pure posturing (which in security terms means "dance with the devil? hold my beer!") because BT haven't got the faintest idea what they're up against and I will be watching this one with interest.
