Yeah, the system in Belgium is fine. I prefer the eID dedicated ID card reader over using a multipurpose unit (ie. smart phone). Not everyone wants a smart phone, and I don't reckon it's at all sensible to lock your access down to "that phone". Whereas any eID reader will do.
