When I hear stories such as these, the over willing digging themselves into holes- I do, in my cynical way, wonder to what extent a recruitment process has selected the naive over-eager sort of type. Because those are the types that HR/managers thought are good for the company. Willing canon fodder are more popular with them than wily old soldiers.
