I believe that Alan Turing, now featuring on the UK's new £50 note, so frequently lost his coffee cup, that at Bletchley Park he literally chained it to the radiator in their relaxation area. (See Andrew Hodges excellent biography: 'Turing the Enigma of Intelligence'.)
