The argument here is that there is no situation in where sudo is necessary because suid exists, not that you should be smart in what packages you have installed. Of course, the principal of least privilege and keeping a minimal attack surface are great reasons to not use sudo. People that don't need fancy tricks but want to get root quickly would be better off using su or even doas anyway
